Posted April 15, 200619 yr It was a beautiful day out, I took the birdies out while I played with the dogs in the yard. I've been taking them out for a little while almost everyday. I live in FL, so It's nice and warm for them. I put the cage out while my dogs are there, we rarely have cats in the yard, but my dogs keep a watchful eye, (Laughing out loud) (well, squirrels and birds too, but that's besides the point, hehe) Anyway, here're Loui and Lizzie yesterday, Lizzie likes to bathe on the water dish when I take them out, I ought try to get a picture of that, it's too funny.
April 15, 200619 yr They are adorable! I would love to live in FLorida...but i hate storms...and hurricanes hit there all the time! Where is the safest place to live in Florida, to still be near the nice beeches, but away from danger? Kirby
April 15, 200619 yr Kirby, that's a good question. If there's a good answer I may have to pack up and move! :(Laughing out loud): It's great to get your birds out in the sun! Sunlight activates vitamin D to make a very much needed vitamin called D3 (the activated form of D). It's great for them to get it naturally. Make sure you AND the dogs are supervising though! And be careful as playful dogs can knock things over and that would be very bad for the birds. They've got such lovely colors.
April 15, 200619 yr Author Don't worry Terri, I always keep an eye on my birds and even my dogs when they are outside. I have a table outside with a big umbrela that's where I put the bird's cage, neither of my dogs bother the birds at all, even when they are out of the cage, they might give them a sniff or two (I always supervise of course) but eventually they leave them alone, the birds aren't intimidated by them at all. Lizzie is actually very fond of my cocker spaniel, well, her coat anyway, she has a long skirt and Lizzie likes to bite on it, my cocker is always running away from her when she does that like "would you leave me alone already?" And Lizzie chases her It's very funny to watch, she doesn't have a mean bone in her body. As far as the safest place in FL, you never know, I live about 45 min from Tampa, we never got hit since I've been her (knock on wood), only strong thunder storms. I have been living here for almost 9 years. I am originally from Argentina. I hope it stays that way!!!
April 15, 200619 yr YAY love4keets! They sure look like they love the sun! Can i move in with you? What city do you live in then?.... Kirby
April 15, 200619 yr That's so nice they had a good day in the sun (pouring rain and still too cold here). I no longer put any cages actually out on the lawn (due to a terrible mishap with wind or something blowing over my cage and my fav budgie of all time taking off years ago), not withstanding a few cats (feral ones too that live in the bushes), I always have to worry about little hawks as well!! I put them out on the glass topped, partially enclosed patio and that seems to make them happy and satisfy their need for sun (and they still get visits from finches, chickadees, humming birds and stellar's jays. Enjoy your sunshine and hey, they are very cute.
April 16, 200619 yr gorgeous, Ohio is having excellent weather too in the 70's I am looking forward to taking Pretty outside in his cage, right now he is by the screen with the sunshine filtered in on one side so he has a choice then I move him back at the nighttime sleeping spot
