I know what you mean lovey. I was watching when the person in line before me wanted a budgie, he went over and just grabbed it by the tail and held it over the box until he could fit it in there. When he had skeeter I had to help him and he wasn't too pleased about it but I couldn't watch him hold Skeeter like that. I didn't notice at the store but when I got home there were feathers in the bottom of the box and she Skeeter has a bald spot on the side of his/her tail. Urrghh it made me so frusterated. But, atleast I know she will be happy and loved from now on!!

:) She/he is one pretty budgie. :D

Skeeter is great! I think a he but still having a hard time telling. I think the cere would be more white all over if a female. Maybe you should write a letter to the owner of the pet store and suggest a better way for them to handle their birds. It may be ignorance on their part. I would hate to think that they just don't care!

Awww she's adorable! :)

Such a pretty bird and "Skeeter" what an adorable name!! :)

;) Ouch that must have hurt his/her tail. I sure wouldn't like it if someone picked me up by my hair!! I would just call the store and ask for a manager and just tell them. Maybe (and hopefully) it's just that employees ignorance and the manager can say something to him.

I'm still thinking girl. very cute!

Looks like a male to me, for sure. Might change, but I would put my money on Skeeter being a boy. He's a adorable (or she).

Pleasepleaseplease call that store and speak to a manager about what you saw. That is cruelty and while the staff probably doesn't know any better, they'll never learn unless someone has the courage to speak up. Don't stand for that sort of treatment to the birds. Remember, these are the same people who handle and catch and care for these animals every day. They need to be told how they can do this better. Be sincere and polite and no one should get angry at you for pointing it out. If they do, that's their problem and another issue all together.

Im with Eterri It's better to tell someone. I myself after seeign the one before me treated like that would have demandeda net or another emplee to handle the bird I was after... but then that's me. I also know it's hard to speak up sometime. Believe me I've held off heaps of times becuase I was too shy to stay something then kicked myself for days or weeks afterwards. Now if it's animal care I don't care if I look like a crazy lady.

These store rely on us to stay alive one little comment should have some big action in the care and treatment of their live animals, if it doesn't then it's not a store worth returning too.

edit to add:
