Posted April 10, 200619 yr I had another question please. On some of the sites I see birds in little sleeping bag like things. It looks like a bed for them. Does anyone use these? Do birds need any type of bedding? Thank you again for helping out a first time bird owner. Dayle
April 10, 200619 yr My budgies, lovebirds and cockatiel hate those things, they prefer a simple swing! I have bought about three of those happy huts over the years and just end up givng them to people, I guess it just depends on whether your bird likes them or not.
April 10, 200619 yr Most budgies just tuck their head under their wing and go to sleep on a perch. There are some weird budgies that lay along the perch using it for a pillow and some even weirder budgies that hang upside down. But on the whole, they don't need bedding to sleep. A cover for their cage yes and indoors in cold climates for sure.
April 10, 200619 yr Definately a cage cover, whatever hemisphere one lives in, mine still start chirping at the crack of dawn which is okay during the week as I have to get up early but during the weekends, awful and I just try and drown it out............uncover them and go back to bed and shut the door.
April 10, 200619 yr My budgies don't like the happy huts (and budgies have been known to see these as a place to lay eggs - not a good idea). They really are more suited to lorikeets and the larger birds that like to snuggle
April 10, 200619 yr My little Budgie Mig liked his when he was little but doesnt go into it much now he still is snuggly though and will lay down flat out like a pancake on my chest while i rub his back as he falls to sleep :fear Cheers  Una
