Posted April 10, 200619 yr You guys have helped me identify this bird down to either a skyblue opaline greywing or dilute before. It has paired up with Astro.........and I am thinking I must have a pair of gay boys here. But Balou is acting female. Balou has ambiguous colour on his/ her cere. Some blue and some brown pink. Is Balou a girl or are they gay budgies ?? BALOU and ASTRO BALOU Edited April 10, 200619 yr by budgiebird
April 10, 200619 yr weird... He looks like a female in the 2nd and last picture....but in others..he looks like a male to me...now cere wise...he looks like he has a brown here in the 2nd and 3rd picture.... Id say hes a male overall...with some weird colour. Just wait and see if he lays eggs or not...but i think male Kirby
April 10, 200619 yr I thing they are both males but Balou might have a hormonal problem which is making his cere look brownish.
April 10, 200619 yr Author Budgiebird can you get a closer photo of the cere... Please Can you get transexual budgies ?? Edited April 10, 200619 yr by budgiebird
April 10, 200619 yr Yes they are called Gherkin I don't know... that is a funny colour. I am going with male. The texture is too smooth for a hen.
April 10, 200619 yr Author Looks like I will have to wait till THEY GET JIGGIE WITH IT or don't as the case may be. Good thing I haven't called Balou BUTCH or something equally as macho just in case he/she is a girl not a boy :hap:
April 10, 200619 yr you can say that again - though if it is a hormonal imbalance and he is a boy - you may want to run him to the vet because a brownish cere in a boy can sometimes mean a testicular cancer

I will watch closely to see boy or girl. If boy he will get looked at for sure.
