Fallows

Can someone tell me what a fallow is??? I saw a photo but I couldn't tell the difference.

A fallow is a bird with red eyes and all black anf grey tones in the bird reduced to brown, like the cinnamon gene. The body colour is normal but reduced in strenght

Fallows are a variety and not a colour. They cover the whole range of colours. The way to describe them is that they are basically, a lighter than normal body colour, and in place of black markings on the wings, they have light brown markings. There are two varieties, namely, the English Fallow, which has plum-coloured eyes without an iris, they are non sex-linked. The other is the German Fallow which also have the plum eyes, but they have an iris and they are sex-linked

Thanks! :fear

Are the plum eyes the same as the red eyes found on the ino's, or is that a different eye colour again???

I'm pretty sure it's the same. :fear

Gee I thought something was wrong with that bird on the front. I was thinking PBFD but it's a 'Japanese Crest' Is there other that think that look is just wrong??

I would be afraid of having one of those in the house….. they look like Blood drinker‘s!!

I can just picture them hunting down my poor “normal” budgies and sucking them dry!! :)

:(Laughing out loud): Those budgies look hilarious! Imagine if Blinkie's feathers went like that?! He'd get a complex trying to preen them back into place!

You know when you have a ino's in the nest box, it's eyes are already red. The fallow's plum eyes occur as it matures. :)

I find this one absolutely scary!!

He looks possessed!!
