I'm so happy. I got to bring my two precious babies home today. My darling little Creamino, and a beautiful recessive pied yellowface. I haven't decided on names yet. I think the Creamino may be a female and if so the name will be probably be Pearl. Haven't got any idea what to call the pied. I'm pretty sure its a male.

I've already had the Creamino on my finger which shocked me. I was putting the water dish in the cage, and I just brushed my finger up and s/he climbed on. I'm in budgie love yet again!!!

So what do you think?

Oh they are simply beautiful!! I like the name Pearl for her, and for him gosh he looks like the sunlight is hitting him in just a way like a Ray of Light, maybe Ray?

Congrats on your new additions ;)

Awww.. I had a yellowface pied that looked alot like that one. I think that one's a male.. I'm not sure but I would have guessed that the creamino is a female. I love how dark the yellow is on (her?) Do you know if they're related?

I don't know if they are related. They came in the same shipment to the petsore so it is very likely. I was actually thinking that they might be because the yellow is so similar on both of them. Could an creamino and a pied come from the same clutch?

They're absolutely beautiful !! :) I love them both, but I love the creamino more :ausb:

Could an creamino and a pied come from the same clutch?

I wouldn't see any reason why not.. I think it could happen if dad and mom were both recessive pieds and dad was split for ino. That's not the only way it would be possible either.

They are beautiful. :P

Random question... how do you tell an ino is a baby when they don't have the head bars to show it? Is there another way to tell?

Hurdy, does the ino gene is sex linked right. the pied gene is a recessive gene, and the yellowface is yet another gene.....so I would say because it is all on different gene yes they could be sibling. I bet they are..they look so similar. :P

Well here are a few more pics of the babies. They are just SO SO cute!!! I had them out of the cage for a bit today. There wings are clipped but man they can still fly around - the little stinkers. I managed to have them both sit on my finger for a bit so I'm pleased about that. Anyway... here they are again :D:wub:

I think I'm going to call her Jewel. Pearl isn't quite right for her for some reason. It goes better with Romeo too :D

And if it turns out to be a male then he'll become Julian.

Quick question - do females tuck their heads under the wings to sleep? Both Jewel and Romeo sleep with heads under wings, but it seems that only the males do in the big cage.

Maybe I should post this in behaviour??

post it there yes, but you know what I have never seen Pretty tuck his head, but he is covered so he could do it when I am not looking. I don't think he trusts me enough to do it.

Oh my, now that's a good looking Creamino!!! WOW!! Both your new birds are beautiful and cute!! I love them both. :D

So if Jewel and Romeo are siblings does it mean that she would be split for recessive pied, and him for ino?

depends what both the parents were honestly, it is possible but not 100%. Just like some sibling have blue eyes and another has brown.

:fear Such gorgeous birds Shawna! :bluebudgie:
