I just got a new violet spangled male! i didnt know if he was violet or not...but compared to my other blues...hes VERY purple...then compared to my violet pied hen, hes a match!!!..YAY! hes like 6 weeks old, a male, tame, VERY cute...has a great personality! He LOVES Tango (his dilute green spangle girlfreind) who are together in same cage becuase they cam from the same breeder...and Tango should have still been in quranteen anyways..until she escaped with main flock. So, yes, this baby is a violet! I will post pics in like 5 minutes for you all to see him! I feel bad, even though i shouldnt that he was plucked as a baby. So he has some bald spots on him (neck, and bit on back/wings) So, he looks unweaned..but hes not! He feeds himself, and is very outgoing, curious, and courageous! He loves Tango already, and when she tries to preen him, he flies away since Tango is just as curious as him, and he cant handle it :hap: They will breed in the future for SURE....if they act how they are acting now for a year until next breeding season! So, i was wondering what colours he would create of bred to a skyblue normal hen, dilute green spangle hen, and/or a white recessive pied cinnamon violet hen....in future years??? Ariel is letting Chico mount her, but he never does!!!.....He steps on her...but doesnt actually mount! so im frustrated! WOOOWOWOWOWOWOWOW....AS IM TYPING THIS!!!!...THEY WERE IN THE POSTURE FOR LIKE A MINUTE VERY CLOSE TOGETHER...TOUCHING BILLS, AND CHICO JUMPED ON HER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!....BUT FELL OFF!!!!....I SAW HER CLOACA PULSING, AND HE FANNED HIS TAIL OUT TO BREED...BUT FELL OFF!!! MANN!!!!...So this is good news now! Shes been in nest box A LOT lately!!!...so maybe he has successfully mounted her when i was at school!... April 6, 200619 yr Author I have to take picstures....And his name is Toby!... thanks lovey!...hes adorable!... UPDATE!!! They were just going at it! Chico mounted her like 5 times! None were actualy matings though. He jumped on sideways, backwards, and the one time he jumped on the right way, he fell off! April 6, 200619 yr Author Im loading them up now! ENJOY!!!...dont mind the bald patches!...Hes 100% weaned..and eats seeds...so i did NOT take him away from his parents to early! April 7, 200619 yr they are cute, did you get them at the same time? I can't remember, I ask because then you wouldn't have done quarantine.
April 7, 200619 yr Author Ya....his mom plucked him....to try and get him out of the nest since she laid 5 more eggs!.....Him and his other btoher got plucked...not his 4 sisters though.... No, well Yes i did qureanteen Tango....See, well one day when i had Tango on my shoulder we went into other room where other birds were. Without me knowing, she flew onto their cage (dont ask me how i didnt know). I was soo busy getting my binder for homework, i left room. I was in other room, then when to get Tango off of my shoulder. I reached back, and no Tango! I ran around house, to find her on my other birds cage getting preened by Ariel though cage bars! They fell in mad love! So, i let other ones out to fly around room, and they all feed her!...It was sooo cute so i let them stay together..since Tango was already quaranteened for like a week which isnt long at all, but better than nothing. So, when i got Toby yesterday, from same breeder as Tango, i put them together since Tango should still be in quaranteen, and this way, they are bonding VERY good when small, so they will grow up paired like my others ones who are now!...who have all paired up! April 9, 200619 yr Author ARIEL JUST LAID AN EGG!!!.... I HEARD A SQWUAK, AND EVERY OTHER BIRD WENT QUIET! THEN ARIEL WAS MAKING NOISES...FOR LIKE 5-10 SECONDS...THEN I LIFTED UP LID SINCE I DIDNT KNOW IF SHE WAS HAVING HEART ATTACK OR WHAT, AND I SAW A LITTLE EGG! SO I WITNESSED OR SHALL I SAY HEARD A EGG BE BORN! NOW LETS JUST ALL HOPE TO GOD HES FERTILE!!! THE PROUD DADDY CHICO IS ON TOP OF THE NEST BOX...SINGING TO HER, AND I THINK IM GOING TO DIVIDE KIRBY AND BELLE OFF FROM CHICO AND ARIEL NOW....THE THING WAS THEY ONLY 'MATED' WHEN THEY WERE IN SAME CAGE...SO I THINK I WILL DIVIDE CAGE NOW, SO BELLE DOESNT GO KILL EGG SINCE BELLE AND ARIEL HATE EACHOTHER.....MEANWHILE THEY LIKE EACHOTHERS COMPANY!!!...YAYAYAYAYAYAYYAYAYAYA YAYAYAYAYYAYAYA YAYAYAYAAYAYAYYA!....SO HAPPY RIGHT NOW :ausb: kIRBY :ausb::
April 9, 200619 yr Author Yes thanks Daz! I know i should colony breed...but they dont mate unless they are all together! Its weird as heck isnt it? So, i have now divided the huge cage...and have Kirby and Belle in lower bigger half, then Chico and Ariel + nestbox in upper....and chicos been at nest box hole whole time singing, and Ariel is on new egg! Kirbys going crazy trying to get to Chico since they use to be gay together, but for the 1st time, Chico is not interested in playing with him! Tango and Toby are in the homeade cage we built last summer, and are getting very close! They preen eachother, and feed eachother! Tboys feathers are growing back quickly since i have shredded iodine and cuttlebone on the food! So they both have orange faces!...soo cutee! Kirby
