When I rub on the side of his mouth he opens up waiting for me to shove food in for him (Laughing out loud).. I took this picture to show you why they are called Blue Tongued Lizards :D

Cheers

Una

My mother had a pair that kept returning to her backyard to have the babies year after year. They have quite a few too. One year they had them in a drawer in the shed, another year under a piece of corrugated iron. Mum and Dad fed the parents on fruit and vegies and grubs from the garden.

Aww how sweet.. The bit i hate is feeding Bert grubs etc.. He cant just take the whole thing in his mouth at once and insists on chomping them in half :) although now he is in the aviary he is LEARNING to feed himself and likes digging about in the old bird seed and eating the grubs he finds in there *Pheww :)

he's cute Una, you have some unique pets

I almost got a blue tongued skink! Like a year ago..for christmas!

They are GREEAT! When you said lizard, i though you meant like an iguana...or something like that...or chinese water dragon...(Laughing out loud). So im sure *** be fine!...hes ADORABLE!... Got new pics of your birds for us?

Kirby ;)

great set up una. I know of quite a few peolple that have kaks, and bourks with their budgies. with all that space, i dont see a problem with mixing birds. you could probably get away with some finches too.

HMmm Finches eh! A friend of mine just down the road breeds Gouldian Finches, how would they go do you think? :ausb:

Kirby.. actually no i havent taken pictures of the birds yet, i will have to soon for you though.. Maybe also some video of Munchkins new found talking tallent taught to him by dear little Apple :)

I love your set up Una!

Bourkes, Turqs, Kakariki, Lorikeets & Red Rumps should be fine with budgies. Although the grass parrots might get picked on by the budgies if you try and breed them in the aviary. Red Rumps, even though a grass parrot are big enough that the budgies shouldn't worry them.

:P Cool thank you for the information, Ill look into it a little bit more and decide what i'm going to do :D ..

Even with all the room in there, honestly my budgies seem to prefer being in the shed part of the aviary, i'm not sure if its just because its what they are use to since its what they were in before all the extensions, they only come out to do a few laps etc a couple of times a day..

I am thinking about partly enclosing the back half of the new bit i have added on to give a little more shelter and if i introduce new birds, ill introduce them to this area first :)

I bet as they get more used to the new enviroment they will come out more  Put some of their favorite toys and snacks to encourage them out more.

YES PLEASE UNA!!!..PICS and VIDEOS PLEASE!!!..(Laughing out loud)

AWWW ;) Munchy talks now?....awwwwww...what can he say?

Kirby :P

:) Kirby he say's EVERYTHING that Apple say's except for the "Beep Beep Beep" thing that Apple does (Laughing out loud).

and Lovey, even with the old extension they hardly ever came out, only just for a little look about and to stretch their wings. I put their fave toys and treats out there for them and they come out for them but once they have finished its straight back into the shed  .

And Karen trust me, I have done the chicken thing on a number of occasions just to get them out of the shed, but they just fly straight back in :( I have weird Budgies... But lots of room to add something else :P heheee...

too funny, they feel more sheltered in there

I guess it's just what they're used to. I guess the old adage goes true for budgies as well "you can't teach an old dog new tricks". Probably when you get some different species & they put space between themselves and the budgies, the budgies will get a bit more adventurous & will "check out" this new environment that the new birds enjoy.

damn! why does Boris always go for the ornament hutch when I'm on the computer BORIS!!! LEAVE THAT ALONE!!! damn . . .

Una...please get a video of cute little Munchy talking!!! Hes soo adorable! OH MY GOSH!!! .(Laughing out loud)...i just love him and Apple to peices! :P:)

Kirby :)
