:fear I did ask this someplace else but thought id ask here as well.. Is there any other birds that i can mix with budgies in an aviary situation? I'm thinking there isn't really but thought to ask anyways :hap:

Cheers

Una

looks snazzy Una! Make my new one look so small now :(Laughing out loud):

Are you thinking of getting more birds?

I love your avairy Una - I am getting so many fantastic ideas for when i build mine!!!

*stupid question* :fear do you have to mow the grass inside the avairy, or would the birds keep it short for you??

;)

Riebie I know the answer to that but I will leave it for Una to tell you the joy of that job.

I believe, and Karen will definately know, that bourkes and kaks go well with budgies

;)

Hmmm that looks like an evil laugh... I am guessing I won't like the answer if I am a lazy bones hey... :)

:) Yeah i was thinking of getting more birds, if not in the main aviary, i'm keen to make a few more avairys or have an indoor aviary.. Im actually really keen to get some Eclectus Parrots :):D

As for cutting the lawn in the aviary.. i'm one of those slaves that will do anything to make my birds happy so umm in order to keep the noise levels in the aviary low, i grab my trusty stool to sit on and my faithful pair of scissors and SNIP away :D;) and no i'm not kidding :) ..

I have bought heaps of bags of cement and i'm going to cement the floor under the enclosed shed bit soon.

Cheers

Una

quails :P

:P :hap: I had thought of this but im not sure they would go to great with my big lizard running about the bottom also :D

If the big lizard running around the bottom comes across a fledgling fresh out of the nest and also running around the bottom.....what would happen ?

:P Umm...yeah...that sounds like fun...hmmm - any other suggestions??? :(Laughing out loud):

If you keep going, you could probably completely wrap the aviary around the former aviary

:D Dont worry, Bert (the lizard) isnt a budgie eater, actually hes is so slack that he mainly only eats if im holding him and literally stuff the food into his mouth  (Laughing out loud) with the Quail situation im not sure how well the eggs (and id only have quails if they were to have eggs) would go with Bert slinking his way about squishing them and probably wanting to sleep in the nest himself.. he is a little sausage..

Ble tongues are insect eaters I think a baby budgie would be too big. Not sure what would happen with eggs on the ground though..

Wow, that's a GREAT aviary!! i wish i have the place for such an aviary!!!! i'm turning a shade of green over here..

With an aviary that size, i think the Ekkies should do fine in it.. though i would ask about the wire size, they are great at chewing through and breaking thin wire mesh. :)

As with quails... that's like if you have that, it'll be almost a sustainable environment for everyone! you see, you feed the budgies, and the budgies will drop all food scrap on ground which the quails will gobble up... then they'll produce eggs for you little bert to munch on along side with the insects that comes in to feed on the dropped food too... :D see all you need is to get the budgie food!!! (Laughing out loud)... :D hehehe

Una you had me worried until I found ut bert was a blue tongue. I thought you might have a goanna in there. :)

Oh i wouldn't keep Eclectus in the aviary or i think id find myself with legless Budgies :P I want to get a baby Ekkie and have in an inside aviary with me in the lounge room.. Speaking of which, I found a Breeder far away but not too far away from me that breeds them and i'm half tempted to put my order in for a baby. He can send one to me that is still accepting only one hand feed daily to help with imprinting him... or i could get some Bourke or Kakariki to go into the main aviary with the Budgies.. :P Decisions Decisions....

Oh also in the aviary my hen (apple, munchy and migs mum) is sitting on 6 eggs.. i really gotta put a stop to her :P

The lizzard will escape!..will he not!....or yourll loose him in all the trees, rocks, bushes, shrubs e.t.c. wouldnt you?...

WOWOWOWOWOWO....SOOOO LUCKY UNA!!!!....that aviaty is like the size of my dining room, and one of my bathrooms!.....

Can you take pics of inside it for us please??...and close ups of budgies in it?...in action?
