Posted April 4, 200619 yr Hi there, Just curious if anyone can help me.. i've been pondering over this for a while... Is Mr Attitude an Opaline Spangle?? here are some pics... Mr Attitude with Bai Shing I thought this picture was kinda cute. So I posted it. Do I need to get better pics to help? Thank you.
April 4, 200619 yr gosh, he is a beaute!!! his feet match his tummy, (Laughing out loud) as to what type, i have no idea, (Laughing out loud)
April 4, 200619 yr gorgeous, I am not sure he is an opaline though because his body colors doesn't go through his wings (according to my monitor), I believe he is a dilute & spangle.
April 4, 200619 yr Author by saying that his body colour going through the wings, that means that he should have grey on his wings right?? He seems to be greyish on the 'shoulder' of his wings. If that made sense.. Here's another picture of him, may be it'll be better with the flash not going off so to speak to wash out the colour this time. I hope. May be... Thanks
April 4, 200619 yr http://www.geocities.com/budgie-place/p_colors.html - go 1/2 way down is the description of Opaline, so is the color of where the white should be on his wings the color of his body? hard for me to tell on my monitor. if you continue down on the site you will read Sometimes the spangle mutation causes a little bit of the body color to show up between the stripes on the back of the head. - this is what you said you saw. Unlike the opaline, spangle does not cause the body colors to spread throughout the feathers of the neck and wings. However a budgie can be both spangle and opaline, causing a unique pattern of color dissipating through the wings. (this is what I am talking about do you see that too?)
April 4, 200619 yr Author Thanks Cheeky. Lovey, I just had to go and wake up MrAttitude to check, and boy was he giving me Attitude!! hence the name.. hehe... Anyway, I checked, and as I thought, he does have grey where the white should be, but it's fairly light. I'll have to see if I can get a picture of him under the normal sunlight!! but here a picture of him where I've showed arrows where the greys exist... the two point to the wings, basically is to indicate that there are grey 'scallops'/strips happening on the wings... the one pointing to the back of the neck indicates that there's pretty much just grey there. I had a look at my other Spangle, she is basically yellow where there's grey on MrAttitude, no blue(she's a yellowface).
April 4, 200619 yr Then is most likely is a Diluted Spangle Opaline - lets wait and see what Nerwen says tonight. I is simply stunning!
April 4, 200619 yr Author Thanks Lovey for all your help. I knew he is a spangle for sure, wasn't 100% sure on Opaline, definitely didn't cross my mind that he could be a dilute, I just thought grey was about that light in the body colour!!!
April 4, 200619 yr Mr Attitude should have attitude. He is simply gorgeous. Oh my. I would think he is a spangled opaline dilute as well but I'm no expert. Send him my way would you. WOW!
April 4, 200619 yr I agree Dilute Spangle Opaline, if you go here and scroll down just a bit you will see birds with wings identicle to his http://www.geocities.com/budgie-place/p_colors.html#spangle
April 4, 200619 yr Where is the dilute coming from??? Your right Cheeta with the Opline Spangle. I can't see any sign of dilute the lines on the flight feathers are strong in colour. I think becuase Mr here has a grey body the grey markings are confusing folks becuase normal grey on wings mean dilute (or greywing/ clearwing)
April 4, 200619 yr I said dilute because the grey is so light, that is my reason..:fear - but you are right it is just gray correct?
April 5, 200619 yr Well the ones with the flash it looks really light but the one with out it look normal. Might be light grey (no dark factors)
April 5, 200619 yr Author okay then, opaline spangle it is... With no dark Factor.. okay I got it.. I think... :hap: Yay, I have an Opaline!!!! Thanks ladies for all your help!! Edited April 5, 200619 yr by Cheeta
