Peanuts For Budgies

I just stumbled on a site that said raw peanuts are unsafe for budgies. Does anyone know if this is true? Are are raw different than roasted?

I've thought about stringing some roasted shell peanuts as a treat for the budgies. I figured they would have a blast chewing through the peanut shells and then possible enjoying a tasty treat inside. Don't want to do this though if it is dangerous for them.

If they are dangerous I would be a little surprised because I have seen gadgets in the petstore that are supposed to hold a few peanuts for birds to forage after - maybe they are meant for other birds.

Peanuts are fine, well at least the roasted ones anyway.. I'm not 100% sure on raw ones though.

As with Shelled peanuts, just take some precautions when giving those as some may be mould and fungi on the shells. I only give my birds shelled peanuts, the ones without shells that is.

Good luck. Oh only give them peanuts as treats.

I've never given peanuts to my budgies, but my conure sure loves them. They are always roasted. Im not sure about raw, I've never heard of them being bad. Just watch out for the salt with the roasted ones, (Laughing out loud) ;-)

I give the roasted peanuts in the shell to both my ringneck and my tiels. I can't see why they would be a problem with the budgies, and what a good idea about stringing them up. I might do that for my aviary budgies - they would love the chewing through the shells!
