Okay people who know genetics.

Photo today shows one of the babies is a lacewing. I know that right up to the grandparents are pure Lutino. Where did the lacewing come from? any will the baby be a boy or girl?

Hidden as split though the males. Which means this one is girl.

They are all stunning Karen :D

Thanks Jen, that was what I was thinking - I remembered your words in my lacewing hen & lutino cock post.

See, you can teach an old Karen new tricks! :D

Beautiful! The difference in size still amazes me. I hope to find a beautiful lutino someday!

I lost one of the babies on the weekend. It was fine on Saturday when I took the photo but on Monday when I was giving the veggies out it was dead on the floor. Must have crawled out of the box & froze. :D

With the other babies that are not visual lacewing, will they all be split to lacewing then?

:ausb: Sorry to hear about the chick Karen.. They are looking good. Hope mine will be as fine :D

Sorry to hear that Karen ;)

will they all be split to lacewing then?

No I had to go back and see the parents, it's dad who is split for it here, he might have given his hidden cinnamon gene to a son but he might not have. about 50% chance for each son that he is split for it as well.

Dreadful to get so far along and then lose one of the precious bundles of feathers. That sinking feeling when you see one lying there motionless......terrible, thing. I am so sorry Karen :P

Sorry for the loss of your baby. The new picture is great! A sea of yellow. They are so pretty. Can't wait to see them on a perch!!

Your babies are so pretty. It will be so cute when they learn to fly!
