Posted March 31, 200619 yr I am hand rearing 2 3-week old budgies. Immediatley after feeding them they shake their heads as if they have something on their face annoying them. This shaking lasts for a few minutes after every feed. I am desperate to find out why they are doing this. I have reared larger parrots and this has never happened before. PLEASE HELP !!! :hap:
March 31, 200619 yr Are they making any noises, or spitting anything up when they shake their heads like that?
March 31, 200619 yr Author Are they making any noises, or spitting anything up when they shake their heads like that? No they arent doing any of those things, just shaking their heads as if they have something on their face they are trying to shake off. I thought the food might have been too hot but its not that. This is a real mystery!!

April 4, 200619 yr I would post this in the breeders sections you will get a better response, or you can IM Daz, Nerwen, Budgiebird or Bea they have experience in breeding budgies.
April 4, 200619 yr I haven't hand reared before but I would like the idea of changing the food. Just like you would change it for a human baby. I will come back if I find anything of help in my new book. What happens if you clean their beak? Does it stop?

I will come back if I find anything of help in my new book. What happens if you clean their beak? Does it stop? The funny thing is they dont have any feed left on the beaks. I wipe any feed away with a tissue and leave their beaks clean. I was too concerned to handrear them and put them back with their parents to finish rearing them. My idea was to have them nice and tame but I didnt want anything going wrong. They are thriving and thats the main thing
