Two of my opalines have fallen in love. He sings so sweetly to her....what a romancer :ausb: He seems to be a mauve opaline and she a grey opaline. What could the babies be ? They have chosen a nest.

Male and Female can both been opaline

50% Opaline

50% Normals

 

If she is a double factor grey, all the babies will be grey

If she is a single factor grey, 50% grey 50% normal

 

Let's see if I am correct :hap:

 

Sidenote: the only thing I question is how the 2 dark factors in the mauve gene play out with the grey gene. Do they darken the grey?

Yes they can lovey :fear Light grey mid grey and dark grey.

 

I would say ALL babies will be opaline.

Not yet. I havent seen them "bonk" yet. He is so in love with her but she gives him the brush off most of the time and just gets busy checking out the nesting box. HHMMMM :grbud:
