:rolleyes::(:wub:

I have an albino budgie and a blue/aqua budgie who have mated and produced 5 eggs about 1.5 weeks ago. The male is the blue/aqua one and the female is the albino one. I just wanted to know what colour possibilities would the babies come in. This is the first time that they have started breeding so I'm just learning as much as I can right now. Any help/ advise would be awesome.

Thanks.

P.S. Sorry if I posted this in the wrong place.

Are the eggs in a nest box or on the bottom of the cage? :rolleyes:

When we put in a nestbox she didn't want to lay the eggs in there and laid them at the bottom of the cage. After she laid three at the bottom, we took the nest out because she didn't care for it. She's with her eggs all the time and they're fertile.

Any suggestions on what I should do because she doesn't like the nest?

:wub: You have to secure the eggs so they aren't rolling around everywhere, that will addle them, a low lying container with some nonskid material that is long and wide enough to be comfortable for the female to lay on them. :rolleyes:

:ygbudgie: Thanks so much for that info. Going to go do that now.

:) It will be a really long haul, with much work on your part and treating the eggs like they are a precious metal. :ausb: That didn't sound right at all, delicate little baby budgies to be and it is very hard to raise them this way but the possibility does exist.

Id get a new non-circular cage..since those are the WORST for budgies, little own breeding ones. But wait until the babies are a bit older...if they hatch, and start to fledge....So they have more space, and then you could add a nest box on the side of the new cage then the female will investigate it, and eventually lay her eggs in it. If an egg is on the floor, i just put it in the nest box, and the hen clues in that the eggs should go in there. That worked for me...good luck!

:) Nest Boxes were definitely out for my group, they hated them, floor was better according to them. :ausb:

That's an old picture of them, we have a rectangular breeding type cage for them now. I don't really want to touch her eggs because I heard that some birds reject the eggs if someone touches them.

What are the Pros & Cons for having a nestbox vs them laying it on the floor?

Thanks for the advise guys. :feedbirds:

about the colors of your babies, add that question to the mutations forum :hap: for more exposure.

:hap: There are just cons to it and they aren't really supposed to breed without a nest box but it does happen every once in a while, as you have discovered. :ausb:

Will do. :wub:

;) That's a shame, do hope that these will have the chance of making it.

Thanks again for the replies everyone. :fear
