Posted August 12, 200420 yr please help me, i'm really confused by what everyone says about sexing budgies, i know you tell from the colour of there cere, and i know one of my budgies (sky) is a **** cuz he has a blue cere but im not sure about the other one, when i brought my other budgie (kiwi) i was told she was a hen, both my budgies are in the same cage and seem to kiss and stuff, so im sure she is a female, but then i heard that before a males cere turns blue it is a pinkish colour, and that is the colour of kiwi's cere, and also i was told kiwi was over a year but if she is over a year and she is female her cere should be brown by now, shoudlnt it ?? please help me. i will try and put some picture of them on her, but i dunno if it will work or not. thanks luv Anna xXx Edited August 12, 200420 yr by kiwiandsky
August 13, 200420 yr okay, a basic guide froma novice. male = blue. female= pink. thats very much 'ish' a male can have a purplely cere, hint of blue, hint of pink. a female is pinky brown. no blue in sight. over all, if its got a hint of purplely blue, its a male, if its pinky-browny, no sign of blue, its a female. x
August 16, 200420 yr Like cherpy said I just want to clear something up, you said: seem to kiss and stuff, so im sure she is a female that doesn't mean they are oppsite sex, all budgies kiss and prean and sometimes feed each other, it just means they are friends. Since you onely have two and they are int he same cage they would have a close bond with each other.
August 16, 200420 yr thank you for you help guys, im sure soon i will find out if they are female or male, cuz they might start mating, well i doubt they will this year, but they should next year, well thanks again for your help. From Anna xXx
