Posted March 23, 200619 yr I knew this could happen and it has. Houdini is growing ever so protective of HIS things in the cage. He believes if anyone messes with those things that he should get aggressive. Now he is actually chasing the others off of the cage when they are out together and then not letting on top of the cage again. I have already separated him trying to calm him down a little but I feel like it is cruel keeping him by himself. I would put him in my room but Tweeter and Twitter are still in quaentine. Any suggestions??
March 23, 200619 yr I would suggest taking out the toys that he protects for at least a week, and then bringing them back and see what happens. Change and arrange toys weekly. During flight time, can you remove the cage from the room where he can't see it, a a few days or even a week. Then reintroduce and see what happens. I am sure you leave the door open so they can go in and out but it would only be temporary. See if this helps the aggression, he may right now be hormonal, going through a molt possible? Which can be causing it. In this cage temporary cut down on daylight hours for a week, see if this calms him down. Keep an eye on him you may need to put him in a different cage but not separate from different rooms, just put the cages next to each other, and then flight time supervised. See if that helps. I am sure there will be more ideas, that is what I think of off the top of my head.
