They are cute, good for you putting them in quarentine

The first one is a dominate pied and the second one are the eyes red or dark? The cere looks blue not tan or pinkish like in the albino variety.

:(Laughing out loud): You can pick the interesting mutations can't you.

Your right Saffy is a yellowface type 2. But he is either a DEC (Dark eye clear) which is the pairing of the dutch dominant pied and a recessive pied. Or he is a double factor spangle. Sorry but outwardly there isn't a way to tell which.

BB is an australian dominant pied.

thanks nerwen

i cant help but have a confusing life (Laughing out loud)

and further more saffy has been renamed sumo because hes big(my two boys renamed him)

jason

There's no doubt Jason is a double factor spangle with yellow face II, an imponent budgie, oh yes.

I think a DF Spangle is white with Black Eyes. I would go for a Black eye clear or a Dominant pied. His cheek patches are white. Does he have a white spot on the back of his head?

ive just been reading up on dark eyed clear and ifs its one of those it should have a clear cere if cock and brown in hens but hes got a very blue cere

i hope this helps

jason

Daz, the tail feathers and flights are white...like a clearflight (pied). Does that add something else into the equation? He seems to have a small green feather on his head too.

I thouth DF spangles had plum eyes?

"Genetically double-factor spangles are all yellow or all white (depending on base color). You can tell a budgie is double-factor spangle because its irises lighten normally with age. Comparatively, lutinos/albinos have red eyes and dark-eyed clears have dark plum eyes throughout their lives."

i also sent a piccy to k yorke

he is an author in the budgie variety bible and he said this

It appears to be a Yellowface(sf) White Double factor spangle. It looks like it doesn't have a white iris ring in the eye (hard to tell from photo) and although a double factor spangle should have a white iris ring, a small percentage do not.

does this help?

thanks all jason

Double factors don't have plum eyes - as stated in that quote above.

Most do get iris rings, remember the iris ring comes in around 8-12 months of age, so if your new addition is under that age you still have time for them to appear.

Either way congrats!!

Thanks lovey

i didnt realize they had such different personalities,

the only bad bit about getting sumo is that he has had his wings clipped and im not a fan of that so i cant wait to him becoming a flyer again, but he is such a whopper compared to the others.

thanks again jason :(
