Posted August 11, 200420 yr :yelling: Hi Guys For the past few days the adult male seems to have been attacking the female when she is trying to eat. He follows her all over the cage. 2 of the elder babies came out of the box today and went I got home from work it seem that the male has taken a disliking to one the babies (which happens to be the same color). He does not seem to bother the other baby which is the same colour as the mother. The problem is that when the mother tries to feed the babies in and out of the box, she is hampered by the male trying to stop her. She retaleates and a fight breaks out - sometimes with one of the babies caught in the middle. I assume I should seperate the male bird. I was thinking of getting a very large floor standing cage - which could (I think) cope with about 10 birds. Would this larger cage reduce the fighting?? Any info would be of great help! Cheers Adam.
August 11, 200420 yr Your male is probably ready to breed again and the babies are getting in the way. A larger cage is usually always good, but I'm not sure if it would prevent him from bothering the babies right now. You could get one and put the male in it until all the babies fledge and then put them all together, or put the babies in the bigger cage (after they fledge) and move your male back in with the female in the cage they have now. If you don't want more babies, seperate him. If you can't seperate him, put something on the floor of the cage the babies can hide in to get away from the male.
