I know it is for a cockatiel but you can never have to many cages right

& to boot it came with a tone of toys & stuff

 

it was just sitting at the dump I asked for free? they said yes & it went stright into my trunk as soon as it was emptyed

 

I need to know how to clean it

it seems to have some rust spots

should I clean it with a sos pad or get some CLR cleanre

 

also If I wanted to re paint it what type of paint shopuld I use??? I will post pictures later

Lucky you! I don't know much about refinishing cages but I think I've read you can buy some non-toxic paint for them. Do you have a tiel? I think the spacing is too big for budgies???

To clean it, do a general clean with a good cleaner. Then attend to any rust spots will some Steel Wool. Take the rust spots back to bare metal. Wipe over the cage with a disinfectant and wait till it completly drys. Spray with some fish oil. (yes it will stink) Wait till dry (it will be tacky) Then give the whole cage a coat of non toxic paint.

 

Points to remember with a second hand cage.

• You don't know what was in it before.
  
• You don't know if the bird died in it
  
• You don't know what the bird died of.
  
• Rust is posinous to budgies.
  

So give a good clean disinfect and coat of paint.

 

Oh the fish oil will stop the rust from coming back

ohh thats the same gage ive had for all the past cockatiels fostered good find! i think the bar spaing is a tad big for budgies but if you have budgies who wont try and seueeze through the bars its fine but they do have troubble walking ontop of it.

 

if it were me, id take bleach to the sucker for about an hour then rinse that off and do a regular clean after that

 

though the food dishes are in kinda a bad spot at the bottom there and its quite a box and kinda small (Laughing out loud)
