Dud Eggs..

Featured Replies

:bluebudgie: I just candled my Budgies eggs (the mum that may have squished her last baby) and i found that out of the 4 remainding eggs, 2 were cracked, one looks completely clear and the other is so dark you cant see through it and has a rather large air sack at the end, on the line between the dark and light it has a small dent in the egg shell :ausb:

I have removed the two cracked ones but i'm unsure if i should remove the really dark one and also if the really clear one is okay *sigh

Cheers

I think at this age if the egg is clear then it's infertile. As to the dark one I'm not sure it might be a sign of a chick there or a dud egg. If your willing to wait a bit I think leaving both in to be sure.

una cracked eggs can be saved. use some PVC glue that the wood workers use and glue a piece of old egg shell over the crack. You can save the chick.

If the egg is close to 18 days and you can't see through it. It might be best to wait. Eggs can take up to 25 day to hatch. Depending on the hens activities during the incubation time.
