Posted March 14, 200619 yr Hi All, I have just laid a new slab measuring 3.5 metres x 2.5 metres >{faces east west}. I intend having an aviary built split up into three sections. Separate sections for hens/cocks half covered ; half flights. The third section for breeding cages haven't dcided on exactly which way I am going to divide the size and what other facilities I need. Anyone with some helpful tips can reply and I would be most grateful. Tks Alan
March 15, 200619 yr Sounds really great, id love to see some pictures of the building progress and of course the end result
March 15, 200619 yr Sounds fantastic. Wish I lived in a climate warm enough for an outdoor aviary. My guys will have to do with a large indoor cage. Looking forward to pics as you progress.
March 15, 200619 yr near by water sorce (tap) would be handy for cleaning the bottom of the cage and refilling In the breeding area a bench/sesk would be helpful for when you handle chicks and keep records and if you want to ring the chicks you can use that space and place to rest food dishes when you have more than one to give ot to each cage. March 15, 200619 yr Alan. Do you have any Breeding cages in mind? Mine are from Brendale Produce on Southpine Road. Cost $115.00 complete inc GST. 1200mm wd x 385mm dt x 480mm ht ...and you can stack them. I am converting a 2.4m x 3m shed in to a Breed room come flight. These will easily fit in along the short side. In fact I am going to make up 3 single boxes to add to the same side.
March 15, 200619 yr Thanks to everyone for the tips. I have a picture of the slab and will take more photos as it progresses. I spent this afternoon with chalk and drew what I had in mind on the cement. It sounded silly when I first thought of it but it really made it clearer in my mind when I had finished. I am not rushing into it as I want to get it right. Daz I have been to the Brendale store you are talking about and bought a couple of single breeding cages but they look slightly different to yours but still very good. P.s. when is P.RIVERS next club meeting? Tks Alan
March 29, 200619 yr Alan...what happened I didn't see you at the meeting.. Never mind there is others.
April 2, 200619 yr Hi Daz, Afternoon shift went of sick and I had to work 6.30pm till 7.00am Tuesday morning. I wasn't very happy but that is just the way it is when you work shiftwork. I was really looking forward to going to the meeting and I am sure I will make the next one. Was there many people there and was it interesting? Cya Alan. :bluebudgie:
