Posted March 14, 200619 yr Today when i had Ozzie out he did a poop but it got stuck to his butt feathers. :hap: It looked like a pretty normal poop so why did it stick??? I'll keep watching him and if this keeps happening obviously he'll go to the vets.
March 14, 200619 yr Apple and Munch have had this on occasion but its only been when they have been playing silly buggers and all their feathers are all over the place and covering their vents, could this have been a factor? :hap:
March 14, 200619 yr Author Maybe, except Ozzie doesn't play....he's way to calm and gentleman-ly for such childish behaviour.
March 14, 200619 yr Author diet change from the pet store? Has he started to eat more veggies and fruits? Nope, he still views veggies as evil poison food. Today he did a very runny poop, he keeps changing though, sometimes they're 100% normal and other times they're quite runny. I guess he could be actually eating the pellets that are in his seed dish....i don't think he was on those at the pet store...
March 14, 200619 yr when does it happen most, I remember with Pretty is was after I played him he, because I think I made him nervous in the beginning, was freakin out but it was okay.
March 15, 200619 yr Author I think i want to take him to the vet. I changed the paper in his cage before i went to school and today he's done some perfectly normal ones but also several which are just the white bit and liquid. He's been sitting here beside me now for an hour and he's only done 2 poops, one strange and one normal. :ausb: He's always been quiet so i can really comment on any change in his activity levels. :bluebudgie: *edit* We've made a vet appointment tomorrow at 5pm, hope my little guy's alright. March 15, 200619 yr Good Luck Bea! Cheeky was like that a few days ago but it was either the end of his infection or the antibiotics. let us know how you get on?
March 15, 200619 yr Author Yup, i will. :bluebudgie: Hopefully i'm being an anxious mummy and he's alright.
March 15, 200619 yr If I just saw the white bits I would be worried too. Let us know what the vet said I have my fingers crossed that it's nothing.
March 15, 200619 yr Author Overnight he appeared to do normal poops but then this morning he went nuts with the just white bit and watery ones. Even if they go back to normal today he's definitely going to the vet later.
March 16, 200619 yr Great Idea Bea! I'm not sure how far away the vets are from you or how efficient they are there so ill give you say ummmmm about an hour and a half after his appointment time to get your butt back here and tell us all how it went
March 16, 200619 yr Author They're about a 20min drive. So i think an hour and a half will be plenty. :ausb: He's not done any normal poops since i've been at school. Though he still gets all excited when i walk into the room. :dbb1:
March 16, 200619 yr Author okay, i'm finally here to report back (i was at my friends place). The vet was really great. He said it was one of three things: worms, bowel parasite, psittacosis (sp?). What impressed me most was he acknowledged that meds put in the water don't work too well (usually that's all we're given!). Ozzie got wormed with some stuff you put between their wings which they preen off. He also got *gasp* an injection of Megabac-S and we have also got some megabac-s to put in his water just as back up. I was so proud of my little guy, so brave, didn't squawk at all. :budgiedance: AND (he hadn't eaten all day) but i think the vet scared him into feeling better cause during the car ride home he started scoffing down his seed.
March 16, 200619 yr Ohh Fingers crossed he is okay and the stuff he was given will settle everything down. Hoping it's the worms I'm sure they would be the easiest to treat (if it has to be any :budgiedance:) Good to hear that he was eating again.
March 16, 200619 yr Author He's stuffed himself FULL now. Silly boy! I'm sure he'll get well soon.....the MAJOR pain about all this is i realise i should probably restart the quarantine time from when he appears well again. :budgiedance: I'm thinking i'll introduce them in the school holidays.
March 16, 200619 yr Glad he is eating Bea, and i hope it is only something like worms too. The vet sounds really great, I wish i had a vet close to me.. Its a shame about the quarantine issue but better to be safe than sorry.. It would be too sad if anything ever happened to Blinks :budgiedance:
March 16, 200619 yr good move with the quarantine decision, I know how hard it is but more time to bond with him for sure :budgiedance:. Keep us updated, I am glad he is doing better.
March 16, 200619 yr Author I woke up to a happy Ozzie this morning dying to come out for a cuddle. :hap: He also only did healthy poops overnight so i changed the paper on the bottom and we'll see how he goes while i'm at school! I'm thinking that maybe now Ozzie's true personality will show. Asuming he was sick from when i got him that could be what's made him such a quiet budgie. I thought of a good thing about extended quarantine, this means they'll be meeting in the school holidays and i'll have way more time to give them both individual attention and introduce them properly.
