Hi, I was wondering if one of the experts here could tell me what kind of budgie I have? I know that she's some kind of dilute, but that's all I know. Here's a link to her picture.

She's the light blue one in the back. The picture makes her look even more blue than she is: in real life she's paler than that.

I am going with Greywing Dilute (but I get it confused with clearwing at times too) Very pretty!!

I think that it has to be either greywing or dilute. I'm awful at picking between them... My guess is she's a cobalt opaline greywing (maybe).. I'm fairly sure about the opaline part.

I was leaning towards grey wing as well, the wings patterns are not that light enough for a dilute in my thinking.

Hurdy I can't see any blue on the wings for opaline.

So the wing pattern has to be light to be a dilute? I didn't realize that. I'm trying to learn the different budgie variations, but I'm not a very fast learner.

In addition to a dark factor, budgies may also have a degree of dilution. There are four types of dilution: greywing, full-body-color greywing, clearwing, and dilute. Greywing budgies have grey markings on head and wings instead of black, and the body feather color is about 50% diluted (washed out). Full-body-color greywing budgies have the same grey markings of the greywing but the body color is brightened (not lightened or diluted). Clearwing budgies have very light or no markings on head and wings and the body color is brightened (not lightened or diluted). Dilute budgies are washed out all over. The head and wing markings are very light, and the body color is about 80% diluted (washed out). Without any dilution, the budgie looks like the normal budgies seen above.

If I were to guess I would say it is a dilute (all over dilution) and not a greywing. The colouring reminds me very much of Tweety's. The blue is slightly different than Tweety's in shade but the intensity of body and wing colour is about the same as hers. She is a dilute. I don't think the grey is dark enough for it to be a greywing (at least in that picture). But that is just my humble opinion. It is a beautiful bird either way!

Guys have a close look at the wing patten I think (and I can't see too well) a sky blue spangle wth washed out wing markings. This does not mean dilute. A bad spangle can have light wing markings and not be a dilute.

Your thoughts.

Here is one of mine.

No on second thought greywing skyblue. :D

I'd say dilute, but not greywing. The wings need to be darker to be greywing and the body color needs to be deeper. Here is greywing:

If anything, maybe a poor clearwing.

Yeah I think your right Rainbow. having another look now  Your better at picking these ones than me. She is a lot paler than normal greywings. I woud think Dilute.
