Budgie illness

One of my two budgies seems to be very sick and the only avian vet I know of is very many miles away.

The first sign I noticed was that her feathers were hard as she had not been preening herself and never bathes like she used to.

The tips of the feathers around the head are black and I've tried spraying her with water as she loves it but she still won't clean herself.

She has very little energy and she normally is good at flying but yesterday when she tried she flew a very short distance.

She would also occasionally bite although I try to get her out of that habit but now she acts too depressed to do anything.

Please help as I've researched and looked but I can't the cause. =(

EDIT: Her feathers have actually improved, I saw her perched on the bath in her cage so it's possible she was cleaning herself.

EDIT: I found a vet that could treat her.

Hi vidd, im glad your budgie is seeming a little better  please could you let us know what your vet says, and how she is progressing?

Well she has some sort of bad illness and has to be kept until Monday. If she doesn't recover by then the vet has to 'put her down'. =(

She flew and looked herself as she went in so I strongly believe that there's life in her yet.

Sending good healing vibes to you and budgie Vidd
