March 16, 200619 yr Author Ohh This will be interesting to see what happens. What is with Ash been introduced to Crystal ??? Did you take her for a check up to cut down the time or something else? Nerwen the breeder I got her from asures me that she is in top condition.... But I won't be puting her in the flight until I am very sure. I am keeping an eye on her and Ash.. I don't want to lose him. They are both on medication for Megabac and Coccidiosis just in case.

March 19, 200619 yr Author They all look super and contguations to Duey and ....err....is it greeny? Just wondering are you sure Snowy is a he? Greeny isn't in the photos got to get one of her. I am pretty sure snowy is a boy, and Chime is a girl. But time will tell.
March 19, 200619 yr Yay I got the name right It took me a while to remember who was paired with him. I was just asking about snowy becuase in the pictures the cere looks a ver light blue leaving white ring. Is that just from the flash?
March 19, 200619 yr Author Yes I say that was the flash. It was taken after a long day doing the shed and then mowing the lawns. I was siting bak in the pergola have a "cold one" when the birds started playing. I had the camera next to me saw I set the flash and zoomed in from 4 meters. Snowy's cere is pink with no nassle rings. Chime has the nassle rings. I might try to get a good shot of them before they go into the new aviary.
March 20, 200619 yr Author Gorgeous picks there Daz! I might have to steal adopt one or two of yours! Not a problem Karen
March 20, 200619 yr Thirtyfive Black Of course your budgies will breed in breeding boxes so long as they are happy.I currently keep the birds in the Suspended flight on the side of the new to be bird house. If I do breed, they will be inside the house. But whenever I have new birds, they can see/hear the ones in the aviary, and spend a lot of time calling to them. I am concerned this will stress the breeding pair, hearing their family in the aviary? should i try to keep them outside near the aviary, or will this be stressfull too?
March 20, 200619 yr Author No they wont be stressed out. Budgies don't bond for life. It you have two birds that have bonded and you want to break the bond. Separate them for about 7 days and give them some one new and they break the old bond and make a new bond. If this didn't happen, Breeders couldn't breed with different pairs. They would always have the same pairs togeather.
March 22, 200619 yr Jazz's daddy absolutely refuses to breed with another hen. I have separated them for months with new partners. Jazz's mum will mate with any male I give her but her daddy? No way. If I want nice babies from him, they can only be bred from her. Dumb budgie!
March 22, 200619 yr Just a quick question Daz....a thing that has been in the back of my mind re show budgies. What is the life expectancy and health of a show bird like ? It may sound dumb, but I was wondering since the show budgies have been bred to such a standard that little resembles the original budgie that they came from. You know as with cats and dogs over the years....when they breed certain physical traits into them to reach desirable standards for show ...then sometimes it affects the health or longevity of the animal. Like the siamese cat that is now bred with very pronounced and elongated facial features that werent there thirty years ago etc. Being a previous vet nurse I saw many animals that have inheritied illnesses or problems from breeding "to a standard" so ....I just wondered how it affects show budgies...if it does, the associated health issues, and the age they live in comparison to run-of-the-mill budgies ????? Might start a new topic with this question and leave it open to comment. Edited March 22, 200619 yr by budgiebird
March 23, 200619 yr Author BdgieBird. I answered in the other topic. But it is the same as most show breed animals. The top breaders really look after there birds. They do have a good life. Image if you where a top breed that asks or gets around $2,500.00aud for a bird, arn't you going to treat that birds and it's parents well. Yes there are some breeders that will try to do it on the cheap. Thats happens. A discussion we had last year. The show budgies in Australia do not quiet get that big. My largest bird in now Ash at 74 grams. My birds are on a special diet of Canary seed and fruit and vegetables. They are also on a high protien diet. Crumble Diet. They are also on a program Water suppliment. Week 1 Coccivet or Sulpha D Week 2 Vitamin Supplement Week 3 Probotic Week 4 Calcivet Oh to give a good idea of what the top breeders do to look after their birds. Look at this topic. I have adopted this as a basis of how I treat my birds.
March 23, 200619 yr Thankyou for your information Daz...its been very educational and I have learnt much.....cheers Kaz

I just didnt know where to put the cages. But I guess if their little minds are on being with each other, it will all work out! (Laughing out loud)
