Male Unnamed ???? 74 grams

Female Unnamed ??? 66 grams

Lin the Male is from a breeder in Perth.

All my birds will be treated equily well but these guys will start breeding for Show.

I have two dual breeding boxes coming on Friday.

If I said I was excited it would be an understatement. :D

Hath, Please give me your thoughts.

Adam the first female is ring PR 1G -4 126 The Female is from the same stable won last year's Nationals. Don't think there is a relationship though.

Oh wow! The male is the most beautiful too. Now, don't tempt me Daz, I'm about to go back to work, and haven't got the time for more birds :D:(:(

All look good daz. I'm a bit worried about the first hen (the whiteface) her cere looks like Tooties did when I first got her and I now know it's a possible problem with breeding.

Names:

Bluebell

Crystal (as in crystal clear waters :D)

That's all that came to me.

Who is getting paired up with who?

you look like you have got a good start i really like the yellow face hen looking at the birds i would start to improve head mask and spots in the first couple of years

I like the names Nerwen. The yellow face type II can be crystal.

The two Sky Blues will be paired first. They are all in Quarintine. The two sky blues can be in quarentine togeather in a breeding cage. The three of them came from the same flight.

I will pair Ash to the yellowface when she comes out of quarentine in 45 days.

Jet is the name my wife just picked :D

first you need to breed and see quality of chicks after that you might have to bring in an outcross to improve mask and spots i would use a opaline preferably a female but one of the best tips i got was do not try and change all at once patients it took me 6 to 7 years to improve my original birds to a good base and there was still room for improvement to go to the next level

Thanks Hath. I am lucky in the fact that at the moment I am in no hurry, I know it takes time. I am looking forward to learning and experiencing the shows.

I have learnt in life that a good dinner takes time to prepare. :D

Who wants a place in the skyscraper :( I can't reach to the top breeding box with out a chair :(

Greeny and Huey are in Box 1 with 7 eggs. 1st due on next tuesday.

Bluey is in Box 2 with children Chime and Snowy.

Bluey is coming out tomorrow to go back into the flight. I can then keep a good eye on Chime and Snowy to see that they are feeding themselves.

A close up of one of the compartments. I still have to setup the hooks for the millet and line the bottom with newspaper.

The stainless steel holder on the left holds a small stainless cup for feed. It is being washed at the time of the photo.

This week end I'll empty the shed into the new shed and will start the conversion to the breeding room.

Budgiebird ...no :( I love my chicken but not budgie..thou quail might be okay... :(

I have many hobbies and cooking is one of them.. It took a long time to get good at it but the wait was worth it. :P

Where are those cages from Daz & how much?

excellent set up (like I know anything :P)

I have this budgie book that I have been reading (not that I plan to breed) but I was really getting into it about picking good specimens so if you see me following you, I am not stalking you I promise. Just love to learn. Ask Nerwen  (Laughing out loud), I stalk her all the time.

And yes that meaning is true : ,"Budgie" is short for budgerigar, an Australian Aboriginal word meaning "good food. So we better keep an eye on Daz :hap:

:(Laughing out loud):

I like the set up of the cages, but are you really going to want to get up and down a chair to check on birds and clean and relpace food and water all the time?

Those are fantastic birds & cages!

Where did you find the breeding cages? And where do you keep your birds when not breeding, in an avairy?

If in an aviary, do they do okay in a breeding cage?

I ask because last spring I colony bred, but since I dont want inbreeding, and also I would need 15 boxes, (Laughing out loud), I plan to breed inside the house, and I am worried they will not like being in a small cage???

They handle it well Anna :D

Are you really planing on breeding them all at the same time? That would be a LOT of babies (Laughing out loud).

HECK NO!!! (Laughing out loud)

probably one pair, maybe 2????

I cant decide who though!

Anna, I have brought a pair into a breeding cage for the first time, and have to say they don't seem to mind it at all. I had egg number 1 laid the other day, so fingers crossed

go lin :D or rather go lin's birds :(Laughing out loud):

Anne if that's the case then you only need two cages.
