Posted March 7, 200619 yr Hey Everyone, This is my first post here, so I thought I'd start with the cutest picture I have. This is my first successful hatch. I had to take him out of the nest because the mom has never got them past this point. I'm really wanting to learn more about breeding, so I 'm hoping this is the right place to be! This is Lexi... :feedbirds: If you have any breeding tips and tricks, please contact me! Thanks! Dave
March 8, 200619 yr What a stunning albino How is he going with the hand feeding? How are you going :(Laughing out loud):
March 8, 200619 yr He/she is doing great! I have finished hand feeding, and it is on its way to becoming an expert "flight" bird. So far I have trained it to fly around and come back. Right now I'm working on having it fly out and come back and land into a cage that "appears" (I do magic on stage). I'm really glad that I was able to hand feed it. I can't wait to start doing this with more birds! Dave
March 8, 200619 yr Adorable baby. I hope that someone will be able to help you find out why its mom hasn't been able to care for them.
March 8, 200619 yr Umm long shot here but you dont have anything to do with Chet Womach do you? Yes, he's my brother. And as far as the parents not caring for them... they'd raise them to about the age that you see in the picture, and then they kept dying. I took out the 4 babies in hopes to save them, but only two made it. I was on the road for 5 weeks while trying to raise them, and one of our hotels got really cold one night, and we lost the youngest two. It was really sad. However, the two that made it were huddled up under my baby dove... It's a pain in the butt to stop every 3 hours while driving across the country, but they are worth it. If anyone has any suggestions as to why the parents quit feeding the babies, I'm open to suggestions. As I have mentioned, I really want to breed these little guys but I couldn't imagine trying to hand feed 20 babies at the same time. Thanks! Dave Edited March 8, 200619 yr by DW1868
March 8, 200619 yr Just had to publicly say that i love the work that you and your brother do and i have all my emails he writes kept in a little folder for reference heheee Many of his tips have been put into practice by me, and also a few of his tips and hints i've posted onto these message boards. I just wish Chet didn't live over seas, I yet don't feel confident to purchase from overseas ... Love your web site and the video clips are absolutely mind blowing.. Cheers  Una
March 8, 200619 yr Okay, any chance of finding out who Chet is, other than your brother??? It's confusing the old lady of the board As far as your parent birds - if this is their first clutch, then I would be asking how old the parents are? And, if it is more than their first clutch, then I would be saying don't breed them again. Some parents are just very poor at the job (much like humans, but it's less common in the bird world ). I'd get another mature pair and breed with them if you want to continue breeding.
March 8, 200619 yr Okay, any chance of finding out who Chet is, other than your brother??? It's confusing the old lady of the board LMAO Lin Chet Trains birds and has a very successful program that i'm sure thousands of people worldwide follow.. He has a series of videos on different training techniques for various behavioural issues and the performance of tricks. I found him quite a few many months ago Lin with a google search i think, and i have gained so many tips and have learnt and read a lot of things that have helped both me and little Apple .. I was a bit cynical as to wether it was any use to me since he seems to talk about BIG parrots but pretty much the same principal applies OMG IM RAMBLING Ill shut up now Cheers  Una

Cheers  Una
March 8, 200619 yr (Laughing out loud), hey guys... yes, it's a parrot training course. We actually have a course on "Parakeets" (Budgies), but it isn't on the market right now. It just teaches how to do several cute little tricks with parakeets. I have rehearsals all day today, but I'll see if I can upload a video of it later tonight. Dave
