Problem With Wings?

Featured Replies

Napoleon is skittish, so he flies away from me a lot, especially when I go to get Newton and he's near her, he usually flies away and freaks out. When I go to retrieve him he often squawks (obvious because he's really scared of me) and then he hold out his wings and it seems like there's something wrong. It seems an odd way to hold out his wing(s). Is it because he's scared or is it some other reason. I believe his wings were clipped before I got him. But I have not clipped them, and will not. It seems that he doesn't have the same length of flight feathers as Newton, then again... her wings have never been clipped in my household (maybe prior but not that I know of). He's never bumped into anything that might have broken a wing, so I don't think it's a skeletal injury.

Any ideas?

I'm really quite stumped. I'm hoping it's just because he's scared, though that's not very wonderful. It makes me sad to think he's so frightened. He's never ever bitten me, he's just so very skittish. Newton on the other hand is a sassy girl. She bites, quite hard actually, but she's still tame. She thinks she's boss actually. I beg to differ, but... it's really hard to reason with her hehe.

Anyways, if anyone can shed some light on the wing situation i'd much appreciate it

It's very common for them to hold their wings out to their side when they're stressed and/or very hot. As you guessed, it just means your budgie is scared and needs some quiet time to calm down.

Awww okay, thank you!

I knew it was probably that.

It's just that Newton has never done that, even when she was little and still frightened of me. Napoleon is much more timid. He follows Newton everywhere! hehe

Pretty used to do that when I first got him too, completely normal as Terri said.
