Posted March 4, 200619 yr yeah well i am new at this forum and i needed some help with my birds the male goes on top of the nest box and they females comes. they like pick on it and then the male jumps on her back and like jumps back off and hes does again and again
March 4, 200619 yr Sounds like they are trying to mate, if she doesn't sit correctly or he loses his balance then he will fall or jump off and start again. Edited March 4, 200619 yr by Nerwen
March 4, 200619 yr Author yeah so how long will be goin on cosue they didnt do it today but they did yesterday and so i would like to noe and how long afta will da female go in the nest box
March 4, 200619 yr Please don't use text shortcuts on here like you would in a chat programe (like msn) From starting to mate to the first egg is around a week to nine days. They will continue to mate, as much as they can. Is this your first time at breeding? I see you have ten birds are these two in a breeding cage or are your colony breeding? As in nest boxes set up in an avairy. Is this the first time for either the male or the female, or both? It can take longer for them to work everything out if it is. March 4, 200619 yr Author the breeding pair are in a sepretate cage inside but the 8 others are in a avarie outside first time yes
March 7, 200619 yr Author the male is still tryin to get on the female to mate but she wont let she drops him
March 7, 200619 yr either he isn't courting her correctly yet or she doesn't accept him as mate. althought it is easy tp iar up budgies there are some that will not bond. Give them some more time, i'm piar where like that at the start and I now have four little babies.
March 8, 200619 yr Author but they do always call for each other when one is out adn tehy do groom each other he feeds her and everything
March 8, 200619 yr Givew them time, the first time with breeding they have to lern how to balance correctly for each other, it sounds like your hen isn't staying in the 'u' shape for him long enough. It could be becuase she isn't happy with a watcher. (you) How long have they been in the cage together?
March 8, 200619 yr Author around a year they are my uncles babie but they arnt related and is there pics that i cna see how they mate and after they mate hand feeding da child by the way these are the breeding couple http://i40.photobucket.com/albums/e219/oha.../Picture155.jpg http://i40.photobucket.com/albums/e219/oha.../Picture154.jpg Moderator’s Message to user Images over sized and changed to links Edited March 8, 200619 yr by Nerwen

March 10, 200619 yr Author do females get fat when they are about to have eggs cosue mine is fat and she has feathers in front of her body
March 10, 200619 yr Oh okay sorry I misunderstood the answer then. My mistake. Females will get an enlarged vent when they are about to lay and egg but not fat all over. There might be a bit of a bump very low between the legs. But I would recomend removing the box. After three weeks if nothing has happened many breeders (I can't say all but most) remove the box and if they can return the hen and male to the flock to give a break, you of cuase can't do this bit. But removal of the box then returning it in a weeks time can kick the hen into a breeding cycle. Make sure her cere is a deep brown colour, which means she is in breeding condition. This might sound silly but are you sure you have a male and a female? It has happened before that the wrong gender was given and two males have been set up to breed.
March 10, 200619 yr Author bo bro they r male and female uve seen the picture i have put up her cere is crusty
March 10, 200619 yr bo bro they r male and female uve seen the picture i have put up her cere is crusty Shant I am having trouble reading your posts. You are using shortcuts. The Female looks like alight green from the photo. The other one is a baby looks like he hasn't moulted yet. it still has his bars. He looks to be a Normal Cobolt. What you are seeing is probibly play. How old did you say these birds are? http://i40.photobucket.com/albums/e219/oha.../Picture154.jpg Edited March 10, 200619 yr by daz
March 10, 200619 yr sorry again, the idea just came to me. I forgot about the post above with the pictures. Daz Shant stated they have been together in the cage for a year so they are both of age, I guess that's an old picture of him.
