Posted March 3, 200619 yr Hiya, I don't know if you remember but a few weeks back Cheeky had to go to the vet. He has been on antibiotics for nearly three weeks now and he's still not getting better. His poops are still really wet and the white bit is runny and separated from the greeny bit. Sometimes he is a bit hot too and i think his bottom might be bothering him a wee bit as he looks like he is trying to scratch it with his foot! . He is really chirpy though and he doesn't look unwell - still eating and drinking and running about like a loonatic!! Was thinking about stopping the antibiotics and giving him a couple of days before taking him back to the vet - does anybody have any other suggestions? ps i've also noticed that he is trying to eat fluffy things like the carpet, jumpers etc. am I not feeding him something he needs or is this just a budgie thing?? Thanks again Ali
March 3, 200619 yr Mmm, wondering if it could be something he is eating that is upsetting his tum? I would take him back to the vet definately. Before taking him off the antibiotics, please ring your vet and discuss it with him. Have you been giving some probiotics to replace the gut bacteria the antibiotics would have killed?
March 3, 200619 yr Author yeah thats what i was thinking. he runs about all day so its quite hard to keep track of what he chews. yes i am giving him probiotics too. he is also used to eating our food but we have stopped him doing this now. do you think that could be part of it? thanks for your help.
March 3, 200619 yr Could be anything. Someone on here before had a bird who she thought was allergic to a common seed! I don't know if birds can be tested for allergies. See your vet, and see what they do in cases like this! I've got my fingers crossed for you
