Posted March 2, 200619 yr here is a new picture of hutch...his eyes are actually black...and his wings are blackk but his tummy is a olivie colour so i'm not sure....underneath his wings are fluffy white..almost like downy....
March 2, 200619 yr with the picture quality it is hard to tell. He could be a gray/green opaline? (does he have dark stripes going through his head or does he look bald - best way to describe what I mean).
March 2, 200619 yr he's got a lot of black bars on his head and his cheek thingy's are also black with the picture quality it is hard to tell. He could be a gray/green opaline? (does he have dark stripes going through his head or does he look bald - best way to describe what I mean).
March 2, 200619 yr okay so he could be a normal grey/green - possible Type 2 if you can see yellow coloring bleeding throughout his chest and belly area. if you could get a better picture (with no flash?) or without the red tint on his belly it would really help. If not that is okay.
March 2, 200619 yr okay hopefully this is better heres hutch with starskie....By The Way can you tell me what starskie is...i figue she's something greywing...cause well her wing markings are grey...
March 2, 200619 yr much better okay, I am going with Type II (I see yellow in the belly bleeding through on my screen), green/gray - very pretty bird and a Sky Blue Grey Wing for the other one (as you said)
March 2, 200619 yr you'll have to forgive me, but pertaining to hutch what makes him a type II....the bleeding yellow? so what would a typeI be?....and whats the difference between a grey/green and an olive? much better okay, I am going with Type II (I see yellow in the belly bleeding through on my screen), green/gray - very pretty bird and a Sky Blue Grey Wing for the other one (as you said)
March 2, 200619 yr you'll have to forgive me, but pertaining to hutch what makes him a type II....the bleeding yellow? so what would a typeI be?....and whats the difference between a grey/green and an olive? In type I yellowface budgies, the mask feathers are all yellow. The yellow may also show up in the peripheral tail feathers. The yellow is confined to these areas only and the budgie is normally colored in the body feathers. Type II yellowface budgies have yellow in the mask feathers and tail, just like the type I. However, after the first molt at 3 months of age, the yellow diffuses into the body color and creates a new color, depending on the original color. As for the difference between grey/green & olive, I will let someone else with more knowledge take on that question, I am still learning that myself. I have been reading but I am not sure I will explain it correctly, and don't want to confuse you.
March 2, 200619 yr I don't really see him being a yellowface type 2 (or 1).. Type 2 would indicate that he is a blue bird, but he appears to be green because the yellow from his face is "mixing" with the blue from his body. A yellowface type 1 would have a blue body and yellow face. Olives have dark blue/purple cheek patches and black-blue tails. Grey-greens have silver grey patches and black tails. If that's the case.. I guess that would make him an olive. Olive is a bird with 2 dark factors - in green it goes light green with no dark factors, dark green with 1 dark factor, and olive with 2 dark factors. Dark factors are inherited from their parents based on what color they are.. and how many they have. Grey-green is when a green bird inherits a grey gene from it's parents.. In blue birds, a bird that gets a grey gene would be grey.
March 2, 200619 yr see there thank you Hurdy, so the Typing only goes with the blue budgies, I feel foolish but I didn't realize that but saying it makes sense.
March 2, 200619 yr okay one more...i really wish i could get a picture of he but my camera stinks right now......buttercup is all yellow with a mint green tinge to her belly and rump...(you really need to look at her to see the mint colour) she has no markings on her wings they are just yellow....so i'm guessing clearwing but would the rest of her be? see there thank you Hurdy, so the Typing only goes with the blue budgies, I feel foolish but I didn't realize that but saying it makes sense.
March 2, 200619 yr What color are Buttercups eyes? If they're not red, do they have an iris ring - a grey circle around the outside of the eyeball (may not have developed yet if she is young)
March 2, 200619 yr okay scratch that, buttercup is all yellow, with a mint green tinge to belly and rump, her wings and her head have VERYVERY light grey markings her eyes are black with no ring....hmm her wings were clipped and as i ran over to check out the eye situation some of here flights are on their way back in and they are a cream colour with white coming thru.... What color are Buttercups eyes? If they're not red, do they have an iris ring - a grey circle around the outside of the eyeball (may not have developed yet if she is young)
March 2, 200619 yr I'm not really sure. Maybe dilute recessive pied?? If she evenutally gets iris rings.. then she's not recessive pied.. What sort of pattern do the markings on her wings have? are they like a normal budgies wings (a pattern like hutch's wings) but lighter colored.. or are there greyish spots here and there?
March 2, 200619 yr they are normal markings butvery faint,,,being you cant seem them unless your holding her right up close....same with her bars on her head....wouldnt a pied have a spot on their head...? she doesnt have a spot at all I'm not really sure. March 2, 200619 yr recessive pieds look different then the dominants which have the spot on their head. Pretty in my siggy is a recessive.
March 2, 200619 yr okay..now I don't really think pied.. since the wing markings are normal.. but I can't come up with anything. Probably something obvious (or something I'm not too familiar with) that I'm not thinking of... maybe someone else will see the description and go .. "oh, that sounds like a ____"
March 2, 200619 yr Well I think Hutch is a grey/green the tail looks black to me, and in the second picture there is a patch of grey around the vent area. Grey/green and olive look very much alike. Lovey the yellowface gene can work with grey as well and a type two would get a bleed into the body that make them seem olive (or grey/green) I agree with starskie. Now for buttercup, sorry But I thought Recessive pied as well. Could you perhaps find an internet picture that kinda looks like her? Unless your camera is working now.
