Posted February 28, 200619 yr Now we have a even number of birds, 3 females and 3 males!! Went to get my newest edition today after class. She is beautiful, I think a greywing green but I am not too sure. Any way here she is: Not used to the camera yet!! Love those wings!! Another View of her markings... She knows she is a DIVA!! Hope you like her, I know I am already in love!! Her cere looks blue but in person it has a distinctive white around the nostrils. The picture shows alot more blue that is really there, I'll try to get better ones tomarrow. Once again, I need some suggestions for names please. Thanks!! Edited February 28, 200619 yr by Misty

March 1, 200619 yr Author Well, thanks for the congrats but, I only had her for three hours!!! I got her home and noticed that her foot was a bit sore and that she had a limp.(You can see it in the picture, she is leaning so she wasn't stand ing on it!!) I took her out of her cage and put her on my finger and that foot had no grip and it was cool to the touch. I put some seed on my bed and she had to crawl to it with her belly on the ground and pulling herself around with her beak and other foot. I called the place that I got her from and they told me to bring her in and they would have a look at her. On the car ride there she got alot worse and she just laid in the box. When I got there they told me that they had rehabilitation tanks in the back and that she looked really bad. They told me that I could get another one but I told them that I would wait so they wrote me slip saying that when I came back in that I could get a new one. I hope that she is doing alright, she is in my prayers, but the way she looked tonight as I gave her to them, I am not sure. As I was leaving the guy told me that they were getting more budgies in on Thursday so I might just go and look and watch for half hour or and hour and make sure that they are all doing great. Thanks again. By the way, I had to name her and we named her Sweety, because she was such a Sweetie.
March 1, 200619 yr Oh dear, how awful! Do you think she was sick as well as injured? Just wondering how often they disinfect their cages.
March 1, 200619 yr Author She seemed to be a heathly budgie. She was eating, I just had to put it on my bed because she had to lay down to eat. She couldn't do anything, she would try to perch but would just fall off, or she would catch herself with her beak and push herself back onto the perch. Tonight when we went back I looked at the other budgies and they all seemed healthy and happy. They had a reletively clean cage and fresh food and water. I was not ready to taake another home tonight, plus I am not taking any chances and I am going to scrub the cage she was in tomarrow and get it ready for the new edition whenever they get here.
March 1, 200619 yr Well, at least she knew love for a few hours. RIP little one. I love her name, that is a beautiful thought
March 1, 200619 yr Sorry to hear that Misty. Please let us know if they find out what was wrong with her. Cindy
March 1, 200619 yr Author Lin thats exactly what I told my mom, atleast I know she had some love!!! Thanks everyone and I will definately let you know what happened. Also, I will let you know when the next one gets here, maybe it'll be thursday, but we'll see.
March 1, 200619 yr :budgiedance: OH NO!!! That's just so sad, at least she died in a happy place.
March 2, 200619 yr hugs, did she pass? I read that they took her in the back to help her out? I am confused.
March 2, 200619 yr Author They did take her to the back but when we got her back to the place she was almost gone, she was just laying there not even attempting to move!! They were going to help her but it was too late, and she didn't make it through the night. Atleast I know that I tried and that she was loved for about three hours plus right now. She will always be with me!!
March 2, 200619 yr thank you for clarification, you and her were meant to be, she touched your heart and you touched hers. RIP Sweetie.
March 2, 200619 yr I'm very sorry to hear about what happened. Hopefully they will be able to find out what it was and treat their other birds if necessary.
March 2, 200619 yr I'm sorry to hear about this and that you had her for such a short time. I do want to point out though, that next time you have an ill bird, take it to the avian vet, not back to the pet store. There is nothing a pet store can do for the bird that you couldn't do yourself at home. They can have tons of bird experience but they still aren't avian veterinarians and only an avian vet can properly diagnose and treat your birds. Good luck with the new budgie and the others. It might be a good idea to have at least a couple of them thoroughly checked out by the vet. Chances are, whatever killed the last one can be affecting the others if you got them from the same place or they had contact with her. Edited March 2, 200619 yr by eterri
March 3, 200619 yr Misty I am sorry for your loss. But I can't agree more with terri. This is the very reason to Quarentine your birds when you bring them home. You can not be too careful.
