Posted February 28, 200619 yr Lots of Feathered Friends are up for adoption. But remember, parrots can live up to 80 years! That's a very long term commitment. http://www.bestfriends.org/atthesanctuary/animals/birds.cfm Also, remember that parrots need lots of attention. When you take one home, you become her "mate" the way she sees it. And she may get jealous. Some estimate that parrots are as intelligent as dolphins, so they also mustn't be left alone with nothing to do or think about. They need to be entertained.
February 28, 200619 yr I love anything that points out just how smart they are. :hap: Even the tiny parrots surprise their owners constantly with their intelligence and this is why we have to do our best to keep them entertained and happy. They get bored just like we do. (On the other hand, it's never good to encourage your parrot to think you're its mate. We can't be with them 24/7 the way a real parrot mate could so this can be extremely stressful to them and lead to tons of different issues.)
February 28, 200619 yr ya that was really good i like the way they mentioned budgies need what big parrots need only on a smaller scale couse so many people think them as a little easy pet when really they need more then seeed water and a cage!
