Posted February 28, 200619 yr I just noticed tonight my budgie, Clyde, acting unusual. He was making a commotion fluffing and shaking himself, as well as picking at his feathers. He also didn't seem to want to stay in one place. He then started bopping his head (he usually only does this when he's happy) quite a bit, and also seemed to be speaking though he wasn't making a sound. He's done this 3-4 times tonight for periods lasting approx. 5 mins at a time. Then he seems perfectly fine. Any suggestions would be appreciated. I have taken him to the vet (avian) previously, and spent $305.00 for antibiotics and info that I already knew! I'm not complaining, but that came a month after spending $2200.00 on one of my cats. So any suggestions before resorting to a vet would be appreciated. Thanks.
February 28, 200619 yr To me that just sounds like he was preening and acting energetic. What exactly about his behavior was concerning you? Was he bopping his head in a different way to usual?
February 28, 200619 yr I agree, it sounds like normal, hyperactive budgie behavior. What made the vet resort to antibiotics? Did he run any tests first?
