Posted February 27, 200619 yr What kind of mutation could an albino female carry besides recessive ones that are not carried on the XY chromosome? Can she carry dominant mutations without showing them? It seems that the more I try to understand the genetics of mutation the more confused I become, is it just me?
February 27, 200619 yr the only thing I can think of can I could be TOTALLY off base, but I will put it out there and stand to be correct is is fine because I can learn. The yellow-face gene? Affects this mutation yes? If they carry the double factor yellow face gene then their face is visually white not yellow. If they are visually yellowface they are called creamino?
February 27, 200619 yr If they are visually yellowface they are called creamino they would be called yellowface albino technically there is as far as i know (or my books state) no such description as a creamino budgie creamino is a term used to descibe a certain mutation of love bird not budgie http://www.magsi.com/Aviary/creamino.html Edited February 27, 200619 yr by hath
February 27, 200619 yr I remember going through this with Nerwen, the Creamino mutations. Here is where it describes it also in budgies http://www.geocities.com/budgie-place/p_colors.html
February 27, 200619 yr i still think it is called a creamino as a nick name carried over from the love bird it is not the official name which is a yellow faced albino http://www.budgerigars.co.uk/genetics/yfalbino.html http://www.budgerigars.co.uk/genetics/yfalbino.html
February 27, 200619 yr An albino budgie can carry anything besides the yellow gene, the clearbody gene and perhaps the cinnamon gene. You can't see her other mutations because the ino gene "hides" them. But you will see them in her children

February 27, 200619 yr you are right on that Bea, if they carry the gene then it would be visual, making it a lacewing right Bea? The reason I say yellow-face is because if it is doublefactor it would make her visually white faced but carrying the yellowfaced gene. Edited February 27, 200619 yr by lovey
February 27, 200619 yr Yeah, a cinnamon albino would be a lacewing. I hadn't thought the yellow face thing.
February 28, 200619 yr I think opaline can be 'hidden' on a female albino because it all white anyway.
