Posted February 26, 200619 yr Am going to be getting two new budgies to companion with my "breeding without a nestbox" pair and they are "rescues". One is a young male who is tame and talks a few words and the other one is a young white female in quarantine. My favourite rescue lady contacted me and I am agreeable so will getting a stackable cage setup. I realize it is just a matter of time before the hormone shots wear off and Comet and Star will be at it again, Comet cannot be left without a buddy, he will just go crazy. Star will most likely start laying eggs again (hope not) but if she has a female companion perhaps that desire will lessen. "breeders chat". I have been approached to foster a couple of budgies with a cage and stand for 2 to 4 months by a police officer who is relocating so I have said yes (but this isn't certain yet). "Off Topic". Also been asked to plan once again, a retirement party for many people, ?what am I, the party girl who arranges everything and stresses out but I am saying NO this time. "Off Topic". Am going to clip one of my breeding on the floor budgies tomorrow, the owner wants me to show her how. Budgie Care And people have approached me begging to breed my budgies again as they talk, are friendly and so beautiful and they will PAY BIG BUCKS (gave my babies to friends for free and my avian vet ). My response to that request doesn't even exist on this forum. : And this is sounding a whole lot better, the female budgie is almost 2 years old and laid eggs when she was with a male companion, she has since cut it out since he was removed from her cage. Sounds like a WONDERFUL match for Star!! Let us bring this breeding stuff to an end with everybody being HAPPY!!! Edited February 26, 200619 yr by Phoebe
February 26, 200619 yr Looks like girl you have made some good choices and have put your foot down :clapping:
February 26, 200619 yr Hope so but I still have SUCKER written over my forehead, have to make birthday treats again next week but that's ANOTHER problem, I pray what I am doing is best for my budgies.
February 26, 200619 yr I think it sounds like the right thing, you have done so much to stop the behavior. I will keep my fingers crossed.
February 26, 200619 yr Thanks Lovey, have I posted in the correct place? But I guess it really doesn't matter...........
February 26, 200619 yr honestly, don't know but I am sure a mod will move it if they feel it should be moved
February 26, 200619 yr Oh great news all round. Let me just help you out here. no is spelt n o! Let us know if you actually use the word Sounds like everything is starting to work out for you, how excellent! Hope she does stop laying her eggs!
February 26, 200619 yr Just received word that the female (almost 2) stopped laying eggs when she was removed from her male companion, works for me. (with fingers, toes, legs, eyes, everything crossed!!)
February 27, 200619 yr And the female's name is "Coco" and the male's name is "Buddy". Buddy sounds like quite the little character and he looks very pretty in his pics!! I still cannot understand why people purchase birds and give them up (death and ill health are exceptions) It's like they don't fit their lifestyles anymore so they are discardable. I would do ANYTHING to keep a pet and have. Enough of my ranting and raving for today but I still don't "get it". :ausb:
February 27, 200619 yr They will be joining my "Birdy Family" in 2 to 3 weeks after Coca has been out of quarantine but she has already been checked by a vet and hasn't been around another bird for over a year. Think I have more or less sorted out how to fit in an extra cage. Star and Comet aren't going to like it at first but I hope they learn to love their new companions.
