February 21, 200619 yr it is such a blurry picture so it is hard to tell and still learning myself. The first one looks like a dominate pied, did she have a pied spot on the back of her head - I can't really tell through the blurriness The second one if she has red eyes is a Lutino or dark eyes is a dark eyed clear What did the pet shop tell you when you asked? What happened at the breeders yesterday? Edited February 21, 200619 yr by lovey
February 21, 200619 yr It's not really that you should never buy from a pet store. You shouldn't buy from a bad pet store. By all means, support those that do right by their birds and only avoid the ones that don't. The same goes with breeders. Many breeders are just as bad as a bad pet store. In fact, a lot of them supply pet stores. It's a tricky situation but just keep in mind that the best thing you can do is give your business to a breeder OR pet store that does its best to maintain healthy, happy budgies. :ausb:
February 21, 200619 yr the youngest of the two is still to young according to the vet to know if shes a pied bit possible no spots as of yet she has all her bars still....only 6 weeks old.. named her storm and the second has dark eyes not red...her name is buttercup vet just gave me a cert of health and the guarntee. the breeder went well but the budgies she had were for breeding stock for english and i havent done enough research on linnies or parrolets to purchase one....but the avairy was clean and beautiful lots of toys and food water very well taken care of.....just dont want to get in over my head with birds i know nothing about aleast with budgies they are a little more forgiving as learn and raise them not so sure with the linnies and parrolets it is such a blurry picture so it is hard to tell and still learning myself. February 21, 200619 yr At 6 weeks, you can tell their mutation usually, we have had a lot of members post their babies, and their mutation is know. I would Buttercup I would say a dark eye clear. Someone who can tell better may be able to more effectively tell you the first mutation for sure. I certainly commend you for your attitude of not going over your head, I wish more people thought that way. But now you have a breeder in your back pocket if you ever decide on a different species. As for English Budgies, you can ask here there are quite of few members that have them here . I hear they are not much different but being more laid back, posh, and bigger then your American Budgies. I know that Pixie25, as both so you can certainly ask her more questions on their behavior. By the way, very cute names for the budgies, I really like Storm it seems to fit his coloration. Keep us updated on your decision. (remember to quarantine :ausb: Oh and a side note, Terri is so right about pet stores and breeders. We have a wonderful pet store by us, where I purchased Pretty. There of course things I would change, like putting in veggies in their opened aviary (Laughing out loud) but they are very clean store, and everytime I go in there you can tell that they take care of their birds, fish, reptiles, etc... In fact, I like this store because they have an open aviary vs a closed one like our PetsMart, I believe that is why Pretty is so well rounded because he could be a bird but people always peering in there helps ensure that their budgies feel comfortable with humans at the same time. When I went there over the weekend, I was so tempted. Another thing is that they never have an over abundance of budgies, it seems that they limit themselves to like 15-20 to sell so they are not all crowded together and everyone is adopted. okay, I could go on an on but you know what I mean Edited February 21, 200619 yr by lovey
February 21, 200619 yr yes i have both buttercup and storm in there own cage away from everyone else....45 days right? February 21, 200619 yr i forgot to mention that when i went to the petshop they too had an open style aviary with fruit and veggie trays every where that where fresh....they also divided the the avairy some what by putting all the greens together all the blues together and all the what they call rares together so you can check out the difference between the colourations...it was nice and they had different types of perches for the budgies. when i went in they were actually hand feed a couple of the youngin's and it was in a baby glass nursery so we could watch them....it was nice for sucj=h a big chain store.
