Posted February 19, 200619 yr i have 6 budgies, i've tried to breed them in the same cage but recently been told to put them in sep cages. I've got my breeding box and my pair in a sep cage, do i put the box on the bottom of the cage or higher up? do i put anything inside the breeding box rather than just a bare box? Do i need to put the baby food in a dish inside the box or out for the mother to feed the young? does the cock stay in the breeding cage with the hen and chicks once hatched? I would be deeply appreciative if someone would help me thanks Jen
February 19, 200619 yr do i put the box on the bottom of the cage or higher up? you can put it either but if you place it 3 inchs of the floor it will provide hiding space for the chicks do i put anything inside the breeding box rather than just a bare box? i put wood shavings in but the birds do tend to take them out Do i need to put the baby food in a dish inside the box or out for the mother to feed the young? soft food in the bottom of the cage so both parents can get it does the cock stay in the breeding cage with the hen and chicks once hatched the cock stays in and helps feed but you do have to keep an eye out for a rougue bird who sometimes breaks the eggs or kills the chicks
