Breeding Behaviour/colours?

Hey guys!

I have just written this down in my post under cages, but what do you think of theh fallwoing?:

In Guelph, it is EXTREMELY sunny outside today, which is fantastic! And my brids think so too! My male Chico who is a yellow faced opaline recessive pied type II has never been interested in hens! Yet today, he all of a sudden has fallen in love with my white recessive VIOLET pied hen!!!....i just also noticed all her 'blue' markings, are in deed a very rich, nice, bright purple AKA violet colour!!!!!!!!.....So she chases him around the cage, then he runs away. When she flies back to the nest box, he chases her, sings to her, and she digs around in the wood shavings! She jumps out, chases him, then finally stops chasing him...then all of a sudden, SHE RAISED HER TAIL UP FOR LIKE 30 SECONDS and then like 5 other times aswell!!!!.....he did nto do anything, but im not expecting him to mount her on the 1st day that hes actually showed interst in her! So, whos thinks im going to have babies in spring???...I SURE DOO!!!!....They have been flirting ALL morning from like 8am-now which is 2:33pm in Ontario....im getting a headache!...LMAO!

ps-what colour of babies would they create??? Chicos mom Angel was a skyblue recessive pied, and his dad Buddy was a yellow faced blue type II !!! They were both split to opaline since chico and his siblings were all heavily opalined, and he has every colour imagionable on him except grey! I baught Ariel at a pet store, but she has cinnamon wing colors, and several nice violet markings on her belly, tail, and in between her wings on her back!?!?!??!!?!!?....anyone?

thx

Kirby :) :ausb:

Anyone?!?!?!?..what do you think of this behaviour and what colours do you guys think will/might be created by my two beauties???

ps-Chico and Ariel are still flirting, and it is now 4:55pm...HAHAH

Kirby

Please be patient, you post comes up on a new post since last visit and will not me missed. It's is stated in the rules not to double post, exceptions are made for important posts (such as loss of bird after asking for help)

You will get with these two recessive pied babies some yellow face some white faced, you might even get some violets, or visual violets which look like cobalt. This is if your hen has two violet genes. All opalines you get from this clutch will be females.

Oh..okay thx Nerwen! sry sorry to double post, i just put it in the wrong topic area last time, and i didnt know how to move it....thx thanks though!

So, you think ALL females will be opaline?or all females in general even if they are recessives, or cobalts? And what are the specfic colours i can get?.....Could i get these colours?

-yellow faced blue type II(Chicos dad was one)

-Normal green (yellow faced blue is almost like a normal)

-lutino or alibino (the birds are mostly white or yellow)

-Skyeblues or normal white faced blues (white or yellow faced)

-And sorry you said possibly violets???..how do i know if the hen carries both violet genes?

thx thanks ...i just hope they breed...(Laughing out loud)

All the female will be opaline. Even beeing ressive and cobalts.

-yellow faced blue type II(Chicos dad was one) Yes you will get these, most of the babies will be yellowfaces

-Normal green (yellow faced blue is almost like a normal)No, yellow face might look like greens but it is a blue lined bird.

-lutino or alibino (the birds are mostly white or yellow) only if your male is split for it, then the ones that are will be female, but this not mot all of the famles will be ino, since dad has one normal gene to give as well as one ino gene. Do you think he might carry the gene?.

-Skyeblues or normal white faced blues (white or yellow faced)yes there is a chance of white faces, since Chico is only a single factor yellowface. Meaning he is carrying a white face gene as well

-And sorry you said possibly violets???..how do i know if the hen carries both violet genes? you don't really, but i think when they are a strong violet it means they are double factor. But I could be totally wrong there

Kirby, I think your Ariel has the same colouring as Tazzy. Violet and Cinnamon markings and white body. I wonder if the violet comes from the cinammon gene or vice versa? Or if they are unique genes? I'm a dummy when it comes to the genetic stuff. They are all so pretty!

Your birds are really pretty Kirby.

I wonder if the violet comes from the cinammon gene or vice versa?

I think, maybe, that cinnamon could be making cobalt look violet.. not really sure though.

Anyone know anything about that cage? (or the online store?)

And what are all the babies my pair could produce?...i know i have listed a few and Nerwen answered them, but is there any others?....i really want yellow faced blues, and a normal blue opaline (sky blue colour, with opaline colours)....and i was really hoping for lots of pieds...since they are my favourite!

thx

Kirby

Would i be able to get any of these colours? Im talking about the ones in the 1st, 11th, 12th, and 15th pics on the second page)....with my pair of birds described above???

thx

Kirby

Chico and Ariel will give you pieds. If they are both recessive pieds, you will get nothing but pieds. Odds are you will get yellowfaces. For a good discussion about the yellowface gene, see here for a rather unofficial discussion of yellowface genetics. :bluebudgie:

And I have purchased from that store before and have been very happy with them.
