Posted February 17, 200619 yr Hi my budgies love their Iodine blocks and spend their time scraping at them with their beaks, can someone tell me what a budgie uses in the wild to substitute for an Iodine block, what I'm trying to say is, the minerals a budgie gets from an Iodine block, what in the wild gives them this. Sorry if this sounds confusing.
February 17, 200619 yr im afraid i cant tell you but isnet iodine also used on wounds?i have viteman drops and they smell strongly of iodine but of course this could be a different iodine
February 18, 200619 yr As far as im aware, iodine is present in deep soil and in sea water & kelp. if the soil is iodine rich, the vegetation that grows on it will also be iodine rich. iodine deficiency can cause thyroid problems in humans and other species.
