February 15, 200619 yr They are so adorable. Juli is an opaline. The other 2 look normal colored at this stage. Their father is an opaline? If he is than Juli would be the only female. Juli looks violet (maybe) too.. but that could be my moniter.
February 15, 200619 yr :rip: i cant wait till i breed they look stunning!!therev soooo cute are you going to tame them all i love bambi he/she is so cute
February 15, 200619 yr So very cute:D It's great they way they are all happy to sit in your hand. lovey is right with the colours, I think Myo is a sky blue while Bambi and Juli are cobalt blues. Julie is your only girl out of he group. The fact the others are not opaline means they are males.

They are still quite scared (Juli and Mayo are hiding anywhere they can and Bambi is trying to run/fly/jump away )

February 16, 200619 yr Two of my babies are out today (aged 4 weeks) and dont look like going back to the nest. They have fitted in well in the aviary population and are flying about from perch to perch quite well. Good luck with yours....cheers Karen
February 16, 200619 yr Are they the 2 who were crawling on Ken? The front one just knows who's gorgeous

Good luck with yours....cheers Karen They are very cute I'm very happy - now Mayo jumped out and is sitting on the floor of the cage (can't really climb, because his toes and wings I think). He started to call for food and his naughty daddy (who's separated in cage under them) was FEEDING HIM throw the bars I was so scared that he will attack them again :ausb:
February 16, 200619 yr now Mayo jumped out and is sitting on the floor of the cage (can't really climb, because his toes and wings I think You know I didn't even notice that in the pictures Now I can understand why I thought the tail was so long. Keep an eye on him now, you might have to bring him in any moment so he doesn't hurt himself out in the big cage. Is he getitng any flight feathers growing through? It kinda looks like it in the first picture.

Do you think I can open his wing carefully and take a photo? I don't want to hurt him. They are in a small cage now, I've put some perches lower, so he can try to sit on them when he's ready. But he is on the bottom and exploring. I'll just leave him there for a while, so he can see all the staff around and then I'll put him back to his box :ausb: Edited February 16, 200619 yr by Zebra
February 16, 200619 yr If you hold him and someone else takes the picture or vs versa you can take the picture. When I do Pretty's inspection to check over his feet, cut nails etc..he will let me spread out his wings and I do it very gently. If he resistance I don't do it. But I get a good shot of the flight feathers. You should also be able to see them crisscross in the back too as they start to grow out. I noticed the top comes in first and then the ones that fold close to the body are last (at least with him). He was clipped when I got him and that has been the pattern of his wings coming back in.

February 17, 200619 yr Author I've taken closer pictures of Mayo's wings (he didn't let me to open them, he was pulling them back and I wasn't sure if I wouldn't hurt him). I hope you can see it better I think here are some flight feathers, but not sure
February 20, 200619 yr Juli is an opaline - so this would make her a female - I love the marking on her wings. ??????? I thought both sexes could be opaline!? my friend has a male opaline
February 20, 200619 yr yes they can but males need two gene to be opaline while female only one. Juli here is female becuase one her dad has the gene to past one (one to each chick) If both the mother and farther have opaline in there genes (either opaline themself or the dad carrying it) you will get an opaline males.
