Hello people alot budgie wiser than me tongue.gif

 

I was wonder why my budgie, Hugo, goes crazy when I give him fresh vegies to eat..

he will eat/attack it like there is no tomorrow.. not even stoping to swallow.. then after its all gone, (or i take it away for fear of him exploding) he will be in a very aggressive mood for a day after..

 

Is it because when I first got him i took the advice of the petshop owner saying that they only need seed?

MMm, have no idea why he is so aggressive about it, but he obviously enjoys those vegies! Lucky you! My birds always act like they are doing me a favour if they even look at a fresh veg :bluebudgie: :ausb: I'd let him eat vegies to his heart's content - they should make up 60 - 80% of his diet. Just make sure their fresh, and maybe get real friendly with your local fruit and vegie dealer

He probably just loves them, most people have a hard time getting their budgies to eat healthy so you are a lucky budgie owner for sure

How strange. It sounds like some sort of territorial behavior.. are you sure that he's eating it and not just destroying it.. are there any toys or mirrors in his cage that he's protective of?

(Laughing out loud) lucky kiwi started to see her veg by nibbling it then chucking it out of the cage!luckily the boys looooooooooove veg!my mom and dad are a bit annoyed at seeing her chuck all the organic veg onto the floor (Laughing out loud)!your so so so lucky!

mine sometimes demolish veggies. i think lucky does it in front of casper to say THIS IS MINE AND I WILL DESTROY IT JUST SO THAT YOU CAN'T HAVE ANY.

 

budgie have a natural urge to destroy and chew things. maybe you could buy some shredders for him, so he could destroy those instead? also try rearranging the cage regularly and remove any mirrors that are in the cage.
