Hi everyone

Not been on this site 4 ages!! Been busy with uni work :hap:

I put a pair of budgies into the breeding cage last week and she has all ready laid 3 eggs. As soon as i put them into the cage she went straight in the box. The hen is light blue with yellow wings and the cock is blue and white. Hopefully i will get some blue ish babies as i dont have a lot of blue colous left in the aviary got mostly greens and yellows. Any babies will be nice though as long as they are healthy.

Will keep you posted

Hi

Bad news im afraid all the eggs hatched and the babies all died within 24 hours! Dont know what went wrong it wasnt too cold and i fed them well. Anyone got any idea as to what went wrong? I suppose it was just bad luck or a wrong pairing?

:P

My question is that you put you feed them well? What happened to the parents? (sorry for your loss :P)

this can happen quite a bit if it is the hens first time

what a shame. I hope you have better luck with the next try.

i too am wondering who did the feeding?

Sorry about your loss but what did happen to the parents and what did you do?... Just to help answer your question of what went wrong.

I ment that i fed the parents well! didnt feed the babies my self the parents are doing all right i put them back into the aviary to give them a break i might try again soon. They were first time parents maybe that had someting to do with it! Got a canary on eggs now in the breeding cage so hopefully will have some babies soon!

Thanks for your help

Sorry to hear this, if you try again with these two get ready (if you didn't this time) with some hand rearing formula, you can feed newborn chicks if need be. sometimes only one feeding is all that's needed to give some strength to call out for food that mum will then repond to and feed herself from then on.
