Different Budgie Noises

There's something silly I've been wondering about...

I've been watching a lot of great budgie videos that people have posted, and it seems no one else's budgies sound like mine. I'm not exactly worried about it, but I find it a little unusual that, all things being relatively equal, that budgies don't have the same sound. Some are universal (the angry dolphin noise springs to mind, LOL) but I notice quite a variation in pitch between my birds and everyone elses. I know that when budgies flock together, eventually they acquire the same calls within the flock, and that explains some of it, but not all. I wouldn't think the differences would be so obvious. It is mostly pitch - it seems other budgies have a bit higher, lighter pitch than what I'm used to hearing with mine. Any ideas? Has anyone else watched budgie videos and thought, "wow they sound really different ..." Sometimes it's almost like a different species of bird.

yes mine doesn't nearly make as much noise as many of them to. Pretty does this phizzying noise and warbling low, he is not a high pitched budgie. I am sure that budgies pick up different accents too?? You think? Or not.

I've also noticed that Blinks has his very own language compared to other budgies i've heard. Maybe it's the same as how all humans have different voices and ways of expressing themselves? I mean, dogs have different barks (i can pick Mickey's from a crowd ) so i guess budgies would be the same. :fear

:fear Apple only makes "human" noises and smooches.. he doesnt at all sing and trill like the birds out in the aviary, Ive not yet heard him sing a song. its all just wolf whistles, mumbling, smooches, chuckles and words thrown together

You two might be right. Mine make noise all the time, but the pitch (tone, not volume) is much lower. They just don't sound the same. I've heard Blinky's noises, and I think I said something to you about how different he sounded then. He makes really cute noises.

Lovey, I think they do pick up different accents. Chirpy's budgie Teapot definitely sounds British. Maybe I have budgies with a southern drawl... :fear

IL is not southern (Laughing out loud), I am in OH so I heard we are more nasally :) (really nice description huh), my aunt lives in IL and doesn't have a drawl. Anywhoo, I agree. Did you listen to the Japanese Budgie that repeated his address you can here the accent in there.

Una, I think that is all Apple has ever heard was you from the beginning because you hand raised him? So the budgie noises to him are foreign when he hears them. He is not a budgie but a human in his budgie mind :).

LOL lovey, I just moved from Kentucky. :ausb: I probably sound southern. At least the people up here think I talk funny....that is think "ah" talk funny.....:P Nasally is a good description, and there is no mistaking the northern accent.

Una, I think Apple makes cute noises too. :(

Since I make up lots of different whistles and teach them to my budgies, none of them sound like a budgie from the pet store. They all sound like me! And they also sound like my cockatiel at times, too. Nothing can top the cuteness of when Poof runs up to my tiel Squawky and shouts "Pretty bird!" In his face, followed by clever tiel imitations.

Gotcha Rainbow , yep a little southern down there but the longer you live in IL you will sound nice and nasally too
