March 9, 200619 yr Author well....the oldest is about 13 days old now...and i have not touched them in a couple days....She has not laid anymore, so should i candle them once more...and if i see no veins, should i remove them all?... Thanks Kirby
March 9, 200619 yr Candle the eggs kirby you should see veins by the fifth day. By the tenth day there should show a form. If you are still showing clear eggs they are not fertile. First clutches can show a high rate of unfertile eggs. Don't be too worried. If you get all clear eggs then it is a worry.
March 9, 200619 yr Author So, i should remove them?....and she when then laymore...hopefully fertile ones?..... What should i be worried about?....egg binding?..or mating chances? (i have never witnessed them mate before)....Id feel terible to take them away...shes soo dedicated! Kirby
March 10, 200619 yr Kirby, Did you have to toss the. I'm sure that is very disappointing. I hope that she has at least one good one for you.
March 10, 200619 yr Author Thanks Shawna....i love you right now!... Im feeling really bad...and depressed as Ariel is doing a GREAT job, shes been on the eggs for the past 2 weeks non-stop, and everything! Shes even being a better mother to the eggs than my 1st female how actually had a clutch of 11! So, im going to leave them in for another week, and if nothing happens, unfortunately, i will toss the eggs, but i think im going to burry them under the tree in our backyard as not only me, but many other things including Ariel, Chico, and my family members have gotten close to these little eggs!... So....hopefully they will breed another day, and create babies for not only me, to for Ariel so all her hard work can pay off!.... :(:(...there, 5 sad faces since 5 eggs are infertile..*i think* Kirby
March 10, 200619 yr Author thanks lovey.... I dont know what to do still, i feel bad..i think im still going to wait until i get the new aviary which should arrive on wednesday, then put Chico, Ariel, Kirby, and Belle in it all at once, and that will be when i take out the ggs, and nest box from Ariel:( So this way, she has a new cage, and her old freinds back so that she doesnt think about breeding for a couple more weeks....Then i will move Ariel with Chico again, or a new male i might buy soon to breed with (the new male i might get wil be part of a breeding pair that i will buy off of my freinds dad whos a budgie breeder....so the male will be experienced unlike my Chico, and i think the new male will mate with Ariel. Chico is soo nice, and is too shy to mount Ariel, but a breeder male will have no problem!..(Laughing out loud)) thanks again guys! Kirby
March 10, 200619 yr If there is nothing in any of them now, remove them. This simply means she will jump back to the start and get interested in the male again for more mating and a second round of eggs.
March 10, 200619 yr Author Really?....so should i just take them out now?...or just wait incase one does hatch?... Kirby
March 10, 200619 yr That's up to you and what you feel is right. If you feel you want to wait and check in case your reading the candling incorrectly then let her sit on them.
March 10, 200619 yr Author Yes, i think i will wait and see if i was wrong *which i hope i am!*...(Laughing out loud). Kirby
