Quarentine

I am having trouble deciding what to do with my new hen, She is just not healthy, she has scaleface, which is being treated, and does appear to be inproving, however I don't think that she is eating much if anything, I have seen her drinking. her vent is dirty, and I am uncertain as to what to do with her. How long should I quarentine her for after she improves, on the assumption that she will improve? Yesterday I gave her some thisle and she had a peck at that. The cock bird that I got at the same time as her appears healthy (I've seperated him from her) how long should I quarentine him? :budgiedance:

It sounds like you need to take the hen to the vet. A dirty bottom is just not normal, and has nothing to do with scaly face. I would say she has some other ailment, and an avian vet needs to diagnose what it is

The male you need to keep in quarentine for 45 days, I would say no less because of this. The hen Lin is right get her to the vet ASAP.

Took her to the vet, diagnosis heat stress, and general stress. I took her back to the breeder, who replaced her, but he didn't have another lutino? Yellow, so he gave me a lemon and white bird that he thinks is a hen, the cere is not coloured yet. he said that he'll either give her back to me when she recovers or he'll wait until he gets another lutino and give that to me, altho I was looking at a couple of rainbow cocks, Do you get rainbow hens? all the ones that I've seen are cocks.
