January 20, 200619 yr just a quick question how long will it take to budgies breed when they have just met Aaron there a couple of things: 1. Are the budgies male and female if yes 2. Are they old enough ( they can start around 6 months you are better off waiting till they are a least 11 months they last longer ) 3.Have you a good breeding cage nice quiet area will good sized nesting box ..clean water ..and food tray 4. Put the female in the nest cage or area first 5. when she starts calling.... introduce the male bird you have chosen to mate 6. Give them fresh spinach and or vitamins suppliments as well as the shell grid and seed 7. They should nest in two to four weeks providing they are not recovering from a moult or previous breeding... Regards Docca Edited January 20, 200619 yr by Nerwen

January 20, 200619 yr if this is their first time around 2-3 weeks is aobut normal for the hen to work out what the box is about then then start mating witht he male and before eggs appear. If they have breed before this time is shorter from about a week to two.

January 21, 200619 yr must admit i'm a bit different here if my hens haven't laid eggs by 3 weeks they are separated from the male put back in the flight and tryed later after 7 to 10 days approx
January 21, 200619 yr no not really remember this year i only have 8 pairs to breed as i am starting again after what happened if there are no eggs by 3 weeks and this is the max that i would leave them with no eggs i would think there is a problem give them a rest then try again
January 28, 200619 yr :hap: I had forgotten sorry Hath. But that's what I was saying or trying to say: if nothing happens by 3 weeks it's time to try something else. (either a break or another pair.)
