January 17, 200619 yr Welcome to our boards, this is a great place to get started. How old are your budgies? When did you find the male? Do you have pictures we love to see pictures :dbb1: As for your question, no they should not breed, many male and female budgies live together happy. Are you looking to gain more knowledge for breeding or was it just a general question? Again, welcome!
January 17, 200619 yr Hi Aaron and welcome. I strongly recommend that you don't breed birds that you don't know the background of. If you got them from petshops near each other, they could well be related and cause all kinds of problems. Are you interested in breeding? We love pictures, if you post some we'd be very happy

January 17, 200619 yr Well, you've got plenty of time to learn! The minimum age to breed is 12 months, and I believe 18 months is much better. Don't breed a female 4 years maximum, and 5 years for a male. Start by looking on this board, you'll find lots of posts on breeding. Please read the posts on what can go wrong too, you'll see why we often try to discourage people from breeding before they do extensive research. You'll also be able to avoid a lot of the possible problems by reading these posts. When you've absorbed as much as you can, then ask as many questions as you like. And don't forget those pictures, will you?
January 17, 200619 yr Hi Aaron, The best age to breed budgies are from 12 months old. If you have just gotten the female , it's best to have her quarentined for 30 to 45 days. You wont know if she is caring a desease until it's too late. You don't want your male geting it. Before you attempt to breed make sure you read up as much as you can and ask as many questions as you want. This is the way to knowledge. There is a link to information on quarentine in my signature below. Welcome to the forum and good luck.
