when do i move the chicks?

Hi

Me again.

okay. I now have 4 chicks. They all appear to "break seed" and are looking generally heathly. Eating and drinking okay.

They have been out of the nest for 1.5 weeks (the oldest first).

The two youngest still go in and out of nest. They have been out for a week.

The mother has laid another 3 eggs. :bluebudgie:

The male does not feed the chicks. But they fed themselves almost from leaving the nest.

THE QUESTION.

When can I move chicks to a new cage? As I can't move parents because of new eggs.

Thanks for any advice. :D

I think if the babies have been eating on their own for at least 10 days you can move them to another cage. If you can, I'd keep their cage right next to the one they're in now. It may distress the parents if they just suddenly "disappear". I tried moving mine at about that age and ended up putting them back in the original cage for awhile because it really distressed Rainbow to have them gone. But he was feeding them regularly.
